Namaste to all from Kami Sherpa.

Talked with Kami this weekend and he was a bit surprised to learn that he had gotten such a response to his post. He is still playing with his itinerary, working for a bit better flight schedule but will be here about the first of September "if God is willing."

He is bringing some khukuris with him. Said to ask John Powell if he wanted a very old Kothimoda khukuri with "twelve tolas (about 6 oz.) of handcrafted silver on the scabbard." Price in Nepal: $1200! I can't belive it.

Also said he and the kamis believe they have the tang problem solved. They were getting the tang too hot and pouring the water too far and a bit too fast. They were hurrying too much trying to meet a decent production schedule they had set for themselves.

They are slowing down a little but are disappointed at production figures. They now have 9 men total working in the shop and production has gone up to only about 35 khukuris per month.

He said to thank everybody for their kindness and to tell everybody "Namaste!"

I would like to give a khukuri (Kothimoda) like that to my son uncle Bill, but he's got quite a collection going for himself right now.

When I lived in Nepal I could buy that Kothimoda for $150! Now $1200. Inflation has arrived in the Kathmandu Valley it appears.

Namaste Huzoor and Tashi-Delek, to Mr. Kami Sherpa.

Like many other forumites, I'm eagerly awaiting his visit to the US. I'll be soaking up all the knowledge/insight that he passes on here on the forum.

Let's hope everything works out well for his trip.

p.s. "Tashi-Delek" roughly translates as "Good Luck" in Tibetan, and is used as a general greeting.

Nephew, I got myself into a little embarrassment once by greeting some Tibetans with "Namaste." My Sherpa companions said it may have sounded like I said something about their day of dying and advised me to use Tashi Delek henceforth.

Ghost, speaking of riding the river, when I met Uncle Bill, he reminded me of an older Charlie Askins in looks, and of Bill Jordan in personality. He'd do.

Rusty, I think I look more like Seldom Seen Slim and I am not bright enough to compare to Bill Jordan.

Namaste Kami Sherpa from Canada. My father had some Gurkha's asigned to him during WWII, I know he would greet you properly if he were still alive as well.

Bill, thanks for bringing your father-in-law to us at this forum, as well as his products.

Will certainly be interested to see what he brings in the way of "deals", just wish our dollar was better

Namaste Bill.

Well,Big 1,your quarters work in our machines. We call this fraud.Defrauding a vender.I`ve refused Canada change.Someone will eat the difference.Be advised about this funny money that looks real.It isn`t.If Canada can pass bogus money, they can reduce their debt by laying it on us.

It is not Canada passing bogus money. It is the people who knowingly drop the quarter into the machine.

Namaste to all again!

It is me again, Kami Sherpa. I have had to change my flight schedule and I will now be arriving on Sept. 8. My first schedule was not good after arriving in the US. It was taking me 12 hours to get to Reno from Los Angeles and I was routed to Salt Lake City and then to Reno. I also had to overnight in Bangkok.

My new shedule takes me to Osaka, Seattle and then to Reno with no overnight and is much more convenient.

I will be a little late but I will be there. I am looking forward to learning more about this forum and computers. I may be too old to learn anything, though.

Namaste again to all of you.

Kami Sherpa (Pala -- means "Dad")
