Well I finally made the plunge. (pun intended:))
Upgraded to Knifemaker, and changed my name.

Sean Cochran
formerly known as foxbat34.

And I got this nifty new avatar. GO CATS!

There's a small town near here named Cochrane and our salesman (not the brightest guy) wrote on one of his invoices "Cock Rain" in reference to the town.

OT, but on the same note as 69's comment.

Bill Moran was pretty well known, and I would think his steel suppliers would know who he was even better. Bill got a shipment of steel one day , just a big bundle with the delivery name and address painted on it, addressed to (sic):
"W.F. Morgan Shop, Bradford Hights, Maryland"
It got to him just fine, anyway. I still have that top bar with the name and address.
(for those who don't know, it should have read," W.F. Moran Shop, Braddock Heights, Maryland")

And, when my father-in-law was stationed at Fort Dix, NJ ....he got a package addressed to "Four Dicks, NJ". Seems his southern accent was not clear enough for someone to get the spelling down right.

Now, back to topic:

Sean, good idea on the name change.

My sister just sent me an email with a pic of a mural there. I have some family that still spells the name with an "e".

You should hear some of the ways it has been pronounced. The worst was my fifth grade teacher, she called me "Seen Cock-ran":) with the emphasis on the first syllable of my last name. Since she was old I could understand not knowing Sean is pronounced "Shawn" but, man I lived like hell from the other kids that year.:)

Anyway thanks for all the help Ive gotten from you guys. I hope my next years spent on here will go as well as this first one has.

Sean

Kids can be so cruel! I was called "Cheerios" for a while in elementary school. That and "Hi-ho the Terrio, the farmer's in the dell" or whatever it was... :(

Welcome Sean!

congratulations Sean  I Hope to be making the change myself soon.

come on in, Ben, the water is great.

BTW I am taking a weeks vacation in Sept. Plan on getting my shop redone. Right now there is not much room. After Im finished Ill give you a shout, we'll grind some steel, that is if you can find Pikeville from Harlan;):)
