Name That Knife

This neck of the woods assaults you with micro brews. The varieties are endless. I don't know anyone local who hasn't tried to brew his own. That how common brewing is here. I don't get a chocolate, dark chocolate per the label, taste but it is close to Nitro from the popular string of pubs here.

You don't have to drive to Idaho. Come to Oregon Mid-April for the annual OKCA meet and the knives will be brought to you by Buck, BCCI, Leroy and others. Really. I'll be there Sunday. Leroy just might have the clear, bullet proof, 110's ready to p/u then, oh boy.

Oh thats right, I remember the pics, I believe you posted last year. Man my mouth was watering from the knice nives and knicer prices:thumbup:

Here is my hometown brew...Straub Beer, mothers milk, elixir of life, nectar of the gods, since 1872 only the finest barley, yeast and hopps, pure mountain springwater, no sugars, syrups or preservatives added, Honestly fresh, 303 Sorg St. Saint Marys Pa. Home of the "Eternal Tap":D

Here's a glance at the BCCI table from 2010 OKCA, always held mid-April (a bit of a trip for you, Eugene, Oregon):

Everyone should attend OKCA. Put on by cutlery enthusiasts for cutlery enthusiasts. From hat pin collections to forging demos.

I bot a black-on-black 560 from the hand of Chuck Buck and later, well after the show, bot one of the champagne 560's from the pic via the mail from BCCI.

Yep, those are the pics, mouth's watering again. I'd love to make it but youre right-long trip:(

In the wink of an eye we will both be worm food.

I'll take as many pictures as necessary @ OKCA and post them here.

Sorry that I don't know the manufacturing dates on the Taclites. A guess would be 2001-2003. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable or a better researcher will come along with an answer for us both.

I see the serrated 886WD (wood handle) up for auction. Looks tiny. The wood look terrific.

I got around to checking the catalogues, which I guess I could done before I bothered to ask the question:p I see the Taclite 2001 and 2002 885 only, I dont see the 886 anywhere. Must be a figment:)

Here's the Taclite family. I don't think they made the wood handled one without the serrations.

The 885 was a "new" offering in the 2001 catalog and was joined by the original 886 in 2002. They were both gone from the catalog in 2003, but the 886 with the wood handles was introduced in the 2003 mid-year catalog and by 2005 it too was gone.

Release button pushes the liner lock out of the way of the closing blade but you must release the button before the blade closes 1/2 way or the blade will rest on the non-locking liner which the button employes to shove the locking liner out from underneath the blade.

That is an aquired skill and I find it difficult to master. I believe that's one of the reasons it was changed with the little wood 886. You can see in this picture, the "bar" that pushes the lock out of the way is in the way of closing the blade until the button is released.
