nano oil!you thoughts please

I got fresh Nano Oil in the 2019 new dispenser, the new style precision oiler. The metal needle has an extra metal tip. Upon contact the metal tip gets pressed in (into the metal needle) and releases a tiny(!) amount of oil at the tip. Like a mechanical pencil, you could "write" with it in a very thin line. Innovative stuff i'd say. The metal needle is only so long, so one cannot reach the bottom of long deep narrow crevices/slits, you could imagine. Another advantage of the new oiler is that the oiler head is screwed to the oiler body (with threads, threading), like a marker's construction. There is zero chance of leaking!

Erhh... what?

I've never really seen the need for applying oil to any of my bearing or washer (nylon, brass) folders, though I have used it occasionally on traditional pivots. Typically, if I encounter grittiness in the action, it can be remedied with a blast of compressed air or with a dab of gun oil on the detent ball. Nano oil seems to have such a reverential following on BF that I'd be curious to see if it actually makes a discernible difference in my use.

I like kpl. Just a dab will do ya.

Works better than 3 in 1, less gummy. Also works great on squeaky door hinges.

I have used several kinds of oil including nano oil. Settled on Go juice from ALG Defense. Purely synthetic and doesn’t attract dirt. Last’s quite awhile. I haven’t used the very thin grease yet

It's just oil, probably no better or worse than any other despite claims to the contrary. I've had a tube that I bought several years ago and have still only used about half since I too am in the less is more camp. I got it after reading several glowing reviews about how after applying it to tight pivots - tightened to center otherwise off center blades - they were magically much easier to open. That was BS. I had a few knives like that and application of nano oil had absolutely no effect. No other lubricant had any magical effect, either. Again, it's just oil, period.

I use a gun oil called Go-Juice and you just need 1 or 2 drop's down each side,it's also the slipperiest oil I have found and you can feel the difference for sure.

If you look on youtube you can see where a few people tested it,Go-Juice is made from plants and according to the makers of Go-Juice they said that with plant based oils they make a much slipperier oil then with anything else.

I just a bottle with a needle tip and it's that simple.

i have heard some good things about nano oil on other forums, but put off buying it because i mostly use ether 3 in 1 and WD-40 and sometimes tri flow lubrication for all my knifes for years now!but always looking for the new & improved things in life, any one try the nano-oil! i would love to hear your thoughts, will it really smooth out the action on knifes!or do other lubes work just as well.

I tried the grease and it's great for guns to apply to a bolt action gun but for a knife to take it apart and grease it all the time it's a waste, the grease is super great stuff and is supposed to be the thinnest on the market but it does not stay on the washers very long,I just use the oil and give the knife 1 or 2 drops on each side and I'm done,I also just wash the knife with soap and water to clean it and the Go-Juice never builds up.

Don't waste your on grease unless your going to use it on a gun because it doesn't last long enough on a knife to warrant taking it apart plus the wear and tear on the part's of the knife always unscrewing everything.

I use Daiwa Reel Oil atm. Pretty happy with it, but just likes knives and stones, I'm always looking for new and better products. The two I'm most interested in right now is KPL and Go Juice. Both seem to be slightly preferred to nano oil, but I haven't seen a head to head comparison yet. I would like to.

I actually have done head to head with nano and Go Juice...thats why I recommend the go juice. I really cant recommend nano over sewing machine oil.YMMV

Yea I mean there's no point in spending that much money on mineral oil.

ALG GO Juice $11.50 for 4oz: Nana Oil 10wt 8cc (0.28oz) $17.00 + Shipping on the Big River site. No brainer for me but pick up some needle applicators for precise application if you're not going to disassemble.

You will find the Go-Juice doesn't take anytime at all to get between the washers and the pivot's you'll feel the difference right away to.

These are the bottles I use here.

Actually, I had some other kind of oil with a small needle applicator , and I found out it fit on the go juice bottle too, so I just left it on there with the little red stopper.

I have just recently started using thin grease on my pivots and have had awesome performance with Hatersauce. It's actually a Paintball marker lube I had laying around so I gave it a test and it passed with flying colors. Like a knucklehead I ran my knife threw the wash more than once  and the grease stayed put and the knife's action was as smooth as ever. A small container can be purchased for $12 bucks and would last you a lifetime. You all might think I'm crazy but I really think i'm onto something here.

"Bio" lube, like Froglube and probably ALG, is just coconut oil with some color and odor additives added...

I the Go-Juice is not Coconut oil like FrogLube,I have tried them both and FrogLube leaves a film on your blade the Go-Juice does not.

You can tell they really worked on the Go-Juice formula because it is slipperier then Mineral oil and FrogLube,I can feel the most difference when I use Go-Juice.
