Nanostriker 1.5

Interesting and informative thread with great pics as always, sorry I need the knife back for the show if it doesn't sell at the nkca show you can have it back til Blade. I like the handle even better now it looks better then when you picked it up. I don't know if its because the handle has aged bringing out the contrast in the colors more or whether it is because of the copper in the pins is oxidizing

Very nice, Mist, as always. I'm diggin' mine. The tube does make a huge difference in how its carried. I carried my nano in a pocket, drop it in, take off. Until I moosed up my rod. Thanks for the replacements by the way, using more finesse, less hoof now. Works much better.

The tube it great for space, but, it does need a clip. I would love to clip this on the inside of my pants pocket, like I do my Space Pen, right above my folding knife.

I would have to give it :thumbup: for very practical.

Mist - Love your posts, great pics, etc - but help me out on some edumacation - why should I spend $27 on a nano striker when I can spend $1.00 on a Bic which will basically do the same thing here in the south as long as you keep it in your pocket to keep it warm

I'm not the OP, but while lighters are great, they often fail as we all know. I say get a basic but very functional cheap firesteel, and spend the higher amounts for the one-handed models. Having said that, the OP's fire tool looks very nice, and I may have to put it on my list.

That thing is small enough to fit in a wallet for EDC. I may order the orange one.

EDIT: In FL, cold isn't such a large factor.

Yeah, I like the orange one too, but got green instead because it's my favorite color. My wife wants Rob to make a blue one lol.

No, bitter cold isn't usually a factor down there, I loved the keys and the glades, but I have experienced some pretty cold nights in Tampa and in the northwest part of the state.

Man, I missed some posts :o

Thanks John. I understand...I just hate handing it back :D I doubt I'll see it again lol.

The copper is starting to oxidize a bit, but I think maybe you just needed to step back from it a minute. This thing is beautiful!

Glad you liked the photos.

Thanks Moose, glad you're diggin' it. Yeah, I'm looking forward to the clip.

Well, if you aren't the type to get into some of the situations I get into you may not need to buy one. I like it a lot better than a bic, which I do always carry, because it has no spring or moving parts to fail and I don't have to put it in a separate container if I go in the salt water. I could be in the water for hours and immediately upon coming out be able to start a fire to dry off with, signal with, or warm up by...or ignite a liquid fuel stove or what ever. I just like it because I keep it on me and don't worry about it, it's all non ferrous materials except for the rod which is protected, and it's there when I need it with no waiting for it to dry or worrying that a moving part will fail or that the button was depressed in my pocket and is out of fuel.

Gotcha - Thanks! That is one nice looking tool for sure

Awesome post brother! I've been waiting to get the nano striker because I want the tinder tube with it! So let them know they have at least one customer:D

And for EDC I keep a key ring kit, maybe make the tinder tube a seperate mini capsule? Like the ones from GG only tiny and easier to carry, not to mention bad a$$ looking!

Do you know if they'll be offering the tinder tube by itself?

thanks mist! just ordered the nano. i'll be attaching it to my key ring so i always have it. seems like a nifty little firestarter.

Hey Mist, as always great review and great pics, although my wallet doesn't like you!

I've been considering getting a Ti Nanostriker to EDC as a necklace (I like the idea of no anodizing to wear off, titanium's corrosion resistance, and did I mention it's TITANIUM?!!). Do you think this is doable with the Nanostriker, as far as size and sharp edges, etc.? Or do I need to keep shopping?

Thanks, glad you like the post. The tinder tube will be offered separately, and Rob has been talking about other types of capsules.

It takes a minute to get the hang of the striker but it is an awesome edc fire starter. I always advise to get an extra rod just for good measure. That way you have one to practice with and a fresh one for hitting the trail.

Thanks man...sorry about that :o

The nano is awesome around the neck and the Ti in particular! All rounded surfaces with different knurling, and it's smaller and lighter than most neck knives. When we go out that is how my wife carries her nano, and if I don't have my keys on me that's how I carry mine
