I have an opportunity to buy some legally harvested narhwhal tusk as well as lots of caribou antler. What is the going rate for the nahrwhal tusk? Also is caribou a usable antler for knife handles?
Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve, I just wanted to let you know that Narhwal is not legal to be imported into the U.S. Certainly your Canadian friends may jump at the chance to get some. Caribou is usable and the higher figured stuff looks nice. $20.00 to $30.00 for nice handle size pieces is fair. Talk to you later Mark

Steve. Narwhale can be a bit of a chalenge to use. It is in fact three pieces that are formed into the one but with an on going twist in the pattern. It can look and work super for the handle of a spear point. Frank

Narwhal is superb. In the states it goes for $100 per inch....and more....if you can find any.
In Canada, it sells for much less....about half the US price.

Caribou can make nice Puuko and Sammi style knives and sheaths, as well as other handle uses.
