Narwhal Spike - Fluted Ringed Gidgee

I would not choose this type of handle if I were chopping through underbrush all day. But I wouldn’t choose this type of blade for that purpose either.

it will never happen.

there are a few ways I've been able to make a little money from my cutlery interests. Whether it's from buying low and selling higher, or by designing knives, I've always had a rule that I'd reinvest some of that money back into the 'industry' through supporting people whose work and attitude inspires.

Of course, whatever amount I have available to spend is almost completely meaningless in the grand scheme of things. What I feel is more important, is to identify makers who I think have what it takes to succeed, and then do what I can in my small way to aid them in their quest.

Erin is one guy who I really think has what it takes, and whose work- in the case of this knife- I simply could not pass on. Thank you, Erin, this knife is exquisite!
I'll try to get some more photos posted up in the next few days.

Cheers!

Thanks mate!

I'm glad it made it across the border safe, and that no postal workers appear to have been harmed in the process... ;) I'm also glad that you like the knife. I learned a lot in the process of making it... especially in regards to the handle construction and design. And, to be honest, the next time I attempt something similar, I will make a few choices differently (for my sanity's sake). :D

I look forward to working with you again. Hopefully it won't take another five years (PiF reference)... but at my current rate of production, it just might.

Thanks again.
Erin

Erin, all your stuff is so refreshingly original *and* beautiful (many times the two do not go hand in hand), it's always a delight to see your threads!

The one knife I have from you is special, and I'm still waiting for that petty! :D
