I'm making a small huntingknife with scales made of narwhal tusk.
What to do about the small cracks on the surface of the tusk ? I was planning on using crazyglue.

I did Tom, and it's a great material allthough I bought too small a piece.
It costs about the same as mammoth ivory. A tusk 7 feet long will cost you close to 1500$, but we buy it in small pieces costing 40-80$.

yes...thats what they are worth...i thought they all went to ivory collectors.....they have a few in lahaina in maui on the wall... trick looking ivory....wish i had a basement full of them....speaking of basements...a good friend who builds windsurfer boards for some of the most famous windsurfers in the world was commissioned to make on for the king of indonesia....then flown over with the product...they went windsurfing every morning in the kings helicopter...anyway... in the basement...my friend...harold ige.. this is a true story...saw about a couple of tons of elephant ivory...seems all the ivory belongs to the king when and elephant dies there.....yikes.....wish i had a relative there....

It's finished now.I had to take off more material than I thought, so the twist of the tusk is almost invisible.Instead I filled the small cracks with black wax before I buffed it, and it looks like marble now. I like it a lot
