NASA-approved gear

I've seen the adjective "approved by NASA for space shuttle missions" for quite some time now, associated with various pieces of gear I've come across.

Problem is, I have looked for lists of gear approved by NASA for space shuttle crews and for astronaut survival in general, because I'm curious, but I can't find any.

Suggestions, anyone?

I'd check with the Smithsonian Institution. They have a complete NASA survival kit on display in the National Space Aeronautics and Aviation Museum in Washington, DC. As far as blades I remember seeing there last year were a Bowie type knife / short machete (I believe by Case), a Randall (not sure of the model # - maybe a 17?), and a Victorinox SAK.

It's not the pace of life that concerns me, It's the sudden stop at the end.

The Randall is called the Astro. The number 17 sounds about right.
