Nate's high concentration diamond shmoo (stropping compound)

Interesting. I use high concentration diamond and CBN compounds from well known manufacturers like Jende and Gunny Juice and they work really well. Of course they are expensive and nothing like those cheaper oil/wax based stuff which does not work as well. Knowing your approach to your products it would be interesting to try yours as well. What particle sized you have? Do they spread evenly on strop to prevent forming larger particles then intendent?

I don't spread it on the strop, I spray it and let it dry.

You probably wouldn't like it.

Sorry when I said spread I meant distribution on the strop. In your product's case spraying and letting it dry. So I think the better way of asking the question is what is the average particle size in the suspension liquid and what is the standard deviation from that average size. And are there much bigger particles in the suspension compared with most common size?

#NotNathan,

Nathan is not going to divulge this information, it’s a trade secret in a highly competitive sport, this is however what he will say, read post #1 in this thread.

“Through experimentation, we have found that a mix of grit gives us the best cutting edge. Without divulging what exactly we're doing (Bladesports is very competitive), I will say that most of the particles are very fine but some are fine. This is a key difference between sharpening a knife and polishing an optically perfect SPI A1 mirror finish mold cavity. A few fine scratches in your mirror finish make it cut better. This is good for your knives but may be too toothy for shaving. (You tell me, I don't know)”.

Homeland Security has intercepted multitudes of illegal, undocumented, unscrupulous, corporate espionage agents, potential customers from abroad at our nation's northern and southern borders...here solely to get their grubby little hands on the formula in an effort to escalate the worldwide Shmoo Compound race.

We can't be too careful. No one is above suspicion. If you see something, say something.

Thanks for the info!

You must be joking. Still a bad joke and not funny in my opinion.

What was your first clue?

I'm cut to the quick that it didn't rise to your ultra high standards of civility or humor.

(And wasn't directed at you, regardless, though I actually have friends and colleagues with a sense of humor where you're from.)

Sometimes, when somebody tells a joke and I don't think it's funny. I'll think to myself... Hummm, I didn't think that was very funny. And that's the end of it.

I'm not saying that there is never a time that something could be so outrageous, in poor taste, or offensive to me that I might feel compelled to say something about it. It's never impossible. Although, in those cases, it would be something so agreedious that it would certainly violate forum guidelines.

But I can't remember the last time that I heard a joke that I didn't think was funny and I felt compelled to say something about it. That's because this is how people get along with other people and keep the peace. Social skills don't come naturally to all of us and so sometimes it's helpful when people point out when we have said or done something that it maybe would have been better to keep to ourselves.

And I would not normally encourage someone to call anybody out for being insufferable anymore than I would encourage people to call out somebody telling a joke that I would find in poor taste. However, I am moderating this subform with a pretty strict no drama guideline and so I would like to encourage people with something to say of that nature, to take it to pm.

I guess another way of putting that is. I don't want to discourage people from kidding around and joking around. Knife collecting is supposed to be fun, and kidding around is how people have fun

But I do want to discourage people from calling folks out unless it's really something egregious. Nobody wants to hear it.

The difference here is the adversarial nature of calling somebody out. Especially on something that really is not a big deal. That is drama and hard feelings and I don't want it here.

No hard feelings, only hard Rockwells. Got it.
