Nathan 'The Machinist' Carothers

Impressive array of knives, Dudley! Nathan is a remarkable knifemaker and has done a lot to enrich our community over the years. Thank you for sharing some of his work with us. :)

The small Hunter is made from D2 with Nathans one-of heat-treat. It's 60Rc or better and will flex over my thumbnail and is more than likely the sharpest knife I have ever seen.
I have a small hunter and totally agree, will buy more given the opportunity.
Awesome work all'round IMHO. I only have 3 different models, so far.

I laid eyes for the first time on the Loriendesign/Carothers Knives upcoming chopper, rendered digitally.

It is going to be one Bitchin Camaro!

What's the smaller knife pictured third down from the top?

That's a D2 bladed Hunter.....with Nathan's very special heat treat that he optimized expressly for D2.

It's by far one of the very sharpest knives I've ever owned. The edge will flex over my thumbnail at 60+Rc and cut like nobody's business.

I need to retake the 'Family Photo' since I've been able to procure one each of Nathan's Choppers....a 'burley' model and a 'standard' model, but there's nothing ever 'standard' about his works.

I have always admired Nathan's work. I really like the thin blades. Thanks to the OP for sharing a picture of several different models in one pic.

Very cool, and interesting! If you have time, what's the blade length and handle length? This configuration might work for me as an EDC if the size is right, and if Nathan would make it.
I have a Light Chopper and a Field Knife, so an EDC fixie from Nathan would round out a perfect trifecta!

I don't have it handy but I would guess a 4" blade, maybe 4 1/2" but I don't think so.....very lightweight and slim.

Mine is 2.96 oz. Blade is 3.5" cutting, ricasso 0.25", total length 7.25".
Looks just like the one in the "family photo" above.
Awesome knife. I've had multiple request of "can you get me one like this."
Yes, I'd buy another. Enough said.

I finished building the model for our EDC a few weeks before Blade, and sent it to Nate to check out in advance.
We had some time to discuss the deets at the show, and he just now sent me his digital rendering which is looking AWESOME!
Stay tuned...

ps. there's a big run of Field Knives in the pipe. If you want one, you should be able to get one soon.
