I just got a Native 4 a while back in a trade, and I really like the ergo's:thumbup:It has all the qualities I like in a knife... but I'm wondering if I have a lemon? or if my little issues are typical. Anyways the knife got the same pivot marks/scratches on the blade as a washerless Caly3, is this typical? I would think the washers would eliminate any rub marks, but for some reason mine has liner scratches on the blade. I eventually took the knife apart and wet sanded the liners with 1000 grit, then polished it with Simichrome. This seemed to help alieviate the rubbing, but it is hard too tell, since it is already scartched. Also the lock spring seems pretty stiff as well, and when I open and close the the knife the action isn't smooth but feels like little bumps.. I also sanded/polished the lockbar contact parts when I did the liners, and while it helps you can still feel little bumps...If i open the lock the blade will freefall nice and smooth. Anyways I don't recollect the same issues with the locks on my Delica 4, or my Caly 3...just wondering if these issues are typical of other Natives 4's, and will the action/lockbar smooth up from use?

TIA
Dave

Mine is the same man, it is a little sticky. I put some militec lube on it, and worked the action a couple hundred times, and it is beginning to break in. I think that is all it needs, some break in time. There is a contact point on the lock/blade that is more prevailent visually than the rest, but I wouldnt stress it..... It now flicks very easily and has no blade play. As far as the rubbing on the blade goes, mine has it too, but its just cosmetic, nothing I really worry about. Spyderco made this knife with very small tolerances and a very thin knife with full steel liners, its going to rub a little. If they had put thicker washers on the pivot, it wouldnt be the thin profile it is.

Thanks for the reply, I'm glad to here that what I am seeiing is typical with the Native4. It's definitely a fantastic knife, and a great slicer!
