Congrats,
I got mine yesterday. The knife is outstanding in any aspect. Certainly "must have".

Yep, Native 4 is best of the Native series so far. Congrats to all owners and fans.

I'm highly interested to hear some words about your first experiences (mine will come during January). Thanks!

Will do buddy.

Can someone verify the blade length? Some sources say its 3" and some say its 2 15/16ths.

I received mine as absolutely unexpected from my coworkers, so for about 5-10 minutes I was stunned and speechless. When I came back to my senses I realized: it is the best looking Native out of all I was able to handle (Native, Native2, G10 Native with blue shell inlay), also, not a surprise, Native 4 has great ergos, like it was made for my hand, it is very comfortable in variety of grips. CF is very similar to CF on Caly3 and looks great. I think that I started to like CF. Sharpness, fit and finish up to highest standards of Spyderco. IMHO it is one of the best Spydercos ever made. There is a good chance that I will get one more. The knife is absolutely amazing.

I used my tape tomeasure and got 2 15/16, but I am not sure about accuracy of the tape.

There is only one highly technical phrase related to the English language with which I can respond to such a post: I am so totally jealous! :D

I got mine two weeks ago. I collect Natives and the Native III was my absolute favorite....until the CF Native IV arrived. This is definitely the best Native of them all (IMO). Beautiful CF scales, rounded edges on the handles, screw construction, no blade play that I can detect, smooth opening/closing, FFG blade and the liners give it that just right weight in hand feel. I will be buying a second to "put away". Thanks Spyderco for another great knife!

@bh49: stunned & speechless ... you? :D Thank you for sharing your impressions, you make we want a Native 4. Enjoy your new toy/tool my friend and congrats!

In my personal perception Native 4 is the knife of the same level of total quality (design & manufacturing) with Caly3 and 75 mm Persian.
Lately we saw couple models with great design, which were build a little below expectations. I cannot say about all Native4, but mine just perfect.

pkdmslf: I hope to see pictures of your new Native 4 as nice as the others pictures you have posted in the past! :-)

Tom (catamount) and I both got the same measurement as you. No clue as to what Tom used to measure with, but mine was done with an L. S. Starrett 6" steel rule that I've been trusting for over forty years, so I'd say your tape is pretty accurate.

I would also totally agree with your assessment of the Native IV. And congratulations on having some super co-workers!

Mine should be here Monday.
I am wondering if the clip from a Stretch would work on it.I like the narrow bottom on the stretch clip a little better.

Stretch or Stretch II? Stretch clip would not, hole spacing is all wrong. Stretch II clip would definitely work, but would not really accomplish anything. Both it and the Native IV use the new "generic 3 hole" clip that was originally introduced on the D4 and E4. Then again, maybe the perspective of the picture you looked at made the rounded end look bigger than it is. Photo of Stretch and Stretch II here. Native IV is leftmost on the top row in this pic, Stretch II middle on top.

Paul you are right.I was thinking they were the same hole pattern.I never went and looked at my stretch. The rounded end doesn't look as big in your pic.I still can't figure why they changed the clip,I can't see any improvement with the rounded end.

I asked the same question when the Stretch II was first released. Sal's answer was to reduce parts inventory by standardizing the clips as much as possible. Of course I imagine one could always grind down the rounded end. Only problem would be that you'd screw up the paint.
