Native 5 FRN

Might have to defer to Sal for details on this one....

It's certainly taken longer than intended, but that is often the case. We'd prefer not to pull the trigger until we know it's as right as a new model can be. We had a time making the mold. The model is a co-polymer injection molded handle. The lock is the Native5 lock. 2.46 oz. 4 way clip. The model we're testing is S35VN.

This is from another thread

I've been carrying a prototype for the past few days. Very nice piece. It's a Native 5 blade and lock assembly in FRN scales. 4 way clip, no liners (threads are metal that's put into the scale when they are injection molded). Nice improvemenbt over the original model. Shouldn't be too long now.

:D

Glad to hear it's FRN and unlined!!!!! Ok, I was excited about this, then it took so long and rumors of FRCP/liners, lost excitment. Now it's back.

Hallelujah! I'm super excited.

Oh man... This kind of breaks my heart. I just bought the previous FRN Native and this model has everything I want in the current model! ;) Kudos to the spyderco team for making what looks to be a perfect knife!

Thank you for making it linerless. The light weight is one of my favorite features of the FRN Native. From the pictures, it looks like the choil is jimped, which fixes my biggest practical complaint about my FRN Native. Making it FFG fixes the aesthetics for me too.

Now, the only way to improve the Native 6 years from now would be to use a loopover wire pocket clip. :D

Thank you so much.

What steel will it be made with? The G-10 Native 5 has S35V and I would love to have it that steel in an FRCP handle!

Hi Topher89,

Welcome to our forum.

The standard version will have CPM-S35VN. Eric and I want an S90V version, we'll probably make an S110 version.

Thanks for the welcome!

With s35v it sounds like a winner. Well now I just need to save pennies and wait for the release. It will be a perfect companion to my new Para2
