Native 5 S90V Fluted Carbon Fiber

dang, the place where i saw it for 215 is now back up to 252

ill just have to wait for them to go lower or see if anyone will offer below map

It is too bad that most of the dealers sell this knife at elevated price. Fortunately for me my favorite dealer choose different route for his business

The price has been lowered to $215.97 at National Knives.
Good to see. I am wandering, if other popular dealers will go back to 40% off. I totally understand their desire to make as much $ as they can. Most of businesses operate this way.

Mine came today as well. Beautiful knife. Spyderco did really great job

I'm carrying one. I know I'm biased, but I believe this is one of the best quality production lock-backs on the market today.

May be I am biased as well. IMHO Native5 is the one of the best production folder ever produced. I am carrying three of them, depending on mood. Now will be four. But today still old faithful 2013 Forum knife.
Thank you, Sir. You and your company did a great job with this folder.

Mine came today and I love it! The fit and finish is beautiful, the tension on the backlock is perfect. The unique “CLACK” that resonates from the CF handles when the lock engages is authoritative. I love the ground finish on the blade, something that I really missed on my g-10 Native. And it just plain feels great in hand.

I read on the Spyderco factory forum that the carbon fiber is not perfect and that is true but you almost have to look at it with a loop to see it. Although it is probably as close to perfect as machined carbon fiber ever will be. As someone who has ground CF tubes I know some of the challenges of working with it, there always seemed to be voids in the resin and/or the CF right where you didn’t want it. It’s also a little more like wood in that no two pieces are exactly the same. Each one seems to have its own grain pattern and its own little imperfections. So, if you can’t tolerate a little “character” don’t buy one, stick to g-10 or frn. That said I can really appreciate the pains Sal and company went through to bring us this knife and thank them for not giving up on it and making it happen.

RonT2,
Perfect !
I was just going to ask if some one would post a photo of the spine of the handle and as if by magic you did !
Thanks.

. . . then I'm looking and thinking . . . man those are some kind of sharp corners there.
How do they feel in use ?
I have had the hots for some carbon fiber folder or another and I have been looking at the 940 but am I right in thinking that the Native handle is significantly thicker?
(which I would prefer).

There is a very small radius/chamfer around the edges. I bet you'd find a few hot spots after a while. I'm not that tough on my knives so it should be fine. If not, i'll find some 600 and get to work.
