Native lock snap

FYI, my cheap BRK Native from Discount Knives will not snap back from any distance. However, it also has an incredibly stiff action which was stiffer than any other of the BRKs which I already sold off. When closed, it stays closed, too, due to the same stiffness.

BOK, if I were you, I'd send it back to be checked if you can't lube it up or work it out to snap back better.

My FRN Native is the only Spyderco in my collection that disappoints. The lock does not vigorously snap close as mentioned by others here. But that is not the main problem for me.

The tip of the blade when closed sits just fractions of an inch away from being exposed. The "weak" spring compounds this problem by not securely holding the blade "tight enough" in the handle. And this is on a knife that is carried tip up. (I realize that the problem would be minimized if I carry it in my front right pocket; however, I like to carry my knives in my right rear pocket when not using a belt sheath).

As such, this Native is drawer material and is never carried by me. It may be something unique only to the Native I have (or maybe not); however, I don't feel it is worth my time and money to send the knife in for inspection and/or warranty work at the factory. :(

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but I've just got a Native recently (440V with the cutout on the lockbar) and although it does spring back shut about roughly 1" opening, it doesn't have much force to it. It had actually been slowed down a bit and this is the second time I've lube the pivot already...
Maybe it's a certain batch that has a problem. I've seen jjcoolay's Native (with serrations) and it snaps back well, it's 440V and with the cutout.

I did have the Native for a very short period and then it was returned. Still a great blade and I do love the design but I have enough of an EDC rotation to hold me over 'til I can find one with a better lock bias.

I know they're around and I've seen a couple but just not the ones that were coming out of this particular store.

I'd still like to know machanically why though. It annoys me that I can't figure it out.

My FRN Native that I've carried for 2 years closes automatically when point is < 1" from the pommel. I've never had a problem with it opening by itself, in my pocket or otherwise. I'd pay the minor shipping costs to get it checked out
