For all the Spyderco fans which one do you guys prefer between the Native and Delica? Both would have the same steel so that is not a factor and it would be used for general edc tasks. Thanks

Both make great EDCs. The Native fits my hand way better for extended use, but I like both a lot. As mentioned the Delica is slightly thinner and has a finer tip ... of course that means the Native has a little stronger tip if that matters to you.

I’m a Native fan, myself. :)

Native - I like humpless blades more, easier to disassemble and maintain, better ergonomics, Golden made, aesthetics, available in more steels (I think).

My first "good" knife was a Delica, but in the past few years I've developed a definite preference for the Native. When I first got my Delica they were on the Native 1, and I never really liked that version. Fast forward to the Native 5 and it's a different game.

I have neither but I would definitely have a native or 2 if they had a different locking mechanism. I have a lil native with the compression lock and love it. The ergos on the little guy are great so I’d assume the same on the big guy.

I have
> a Native IV in VG10 made in Seki
> a Native 5 with lined G10 handle and S35VN blade steel
> a Delica 3 - saber ground in VG10,
> a Delica 4 - saber ground VG10
> a Delica 4 - flat ground 20CV

Of those, the 20CV Delica wins out.
saber ground delica 4 is second. I actually prefer the saber grind, but the blade steel of the flat ground makes it the winner.
Native IV is third. I've always enjoyed this knife. It still gets pocket time. I like the thicker, more 3D handles.
Native V is fourth,
Delica 3 is last. The 4 is ever so much better with handle liners and the improved tip.

I've never been able to bond to the Native V, though it does occasionally get carried.
The thumb hole is partially blocked by the handle. If you don't use the finger choil, the balance is very strange. So you MUST choke up on the blade. Choking up on the blade is fine for some cutting chores, not so good for others. I prefer options.

The Delica has better ergonomics for me than the Native. Thumb ring is out where you can get to it. The lined handles make the knife robust. And without the choil the Delica gives me more options for hand holds. Also, that famous bi-directional surface on the FRN is secure yet comfortable. The Delica just works better for me.

Don't have either , but I'm very happy with my Manix 2 Lightweight and XL , ball locks .

Best Spyderco folders IMO !

How well does the manix wear in the pocket? I’ve been thinking about getting one but was concerned about the size.

Lightweight model is super easy carry .

XL is moderate size compared to most of my Cold Steel , but also substantially larger and stronger than the Lightweight . More a hard use folder .

I have both and have always preferred the Delica. It feels better in hand for me and love how thin and slicey it is. It's got a slightly longer cutting edge as well.

I like both, but the Native never appealed to me as much. I think it has a lot to do with the choil on the Native making it feel like the edge is too far away from the hand (when not using the choil).

I would recommend holding both and seeing which one feels better. I know there are a lot of people who prefer one over the other.

I really prefer the ergos on the Native
For me it is a more versatile knife. Thin enough to slice and a good grip for power cuts

I carry mine clipless with a lanyard and I toss it in my pocket
