I just picked up the little guy at Wal-Mart , couldn't pass on it for $40.00
It feels like a real quality knife for $40.00 .
What do you guys think of this Wally World special ? Are they tough like the rest of spyderco knives ?

NO, Spyderco makes cheap knives JUST for Wal-Mart. ;)

Really, though, try to search Wal-mart, or Native, and you'll come up with several (dozen) threads.

There is nothing special about the Native sold at Walmart - except the price. It's exactly the same knife that you could pay significantly more for through other suppliers. There isn't a separate run of knives manufactured specifically for Walmart, so they're "tough like the rest of spyderco knives".

I had a Natve through 4 years of military school. Damn durable knife. It survived the entire 4 years and I still carry it. Great knife for an awesome price. 2 thumbs up on that buy.

I got one to a few years back at my Wally Martinez. I kinda screwed up the clip though. I sat on it wrong or got it caught on something I guess. The clip rotated and pushed a bit of the FRN that it lays in over. It still works fine though. I carry it from time to time.

I just picked one up a couple days ago myself. I'm working on grinding it down flat to the stone, after that I'll start carrying it. I think it's a great knife for the money. Light, simple construction that's easy to keep clean, comfortable and secure grip etc. I'd like seeing a few more spyderco's come out that don't have a prominent thumb ramp. It's one of the things that makes the Native comfortable for me to use in a variety of grips.

I was considering a couple of other mods to it. I'm already working on enlarging the choil slightly to give it a better fit to my index finger. I was thinking about rounding the corner of the FRN right behind the deeper, large choil, making it a little similar to a Caly model in handle shape. I think it'd be more ergonomic like this, especially held out of the front choil.
