Any opinions on the spyderco native II? I cant decide between a native and an endura. Which one is more durable and pocket friendly?
thanks

Ah. Durable for what?

As for "pocket friendly", I'd say the Native is smaller, so takes up less space. The Endura is larger and a more pronounced tip for jabbing. But for everyday cutting and small size use, the Native would be my choice.

The Native II is the all stainless version. Assuming you're comparing that with an all stainless Endura, the Native II would definitely be lighter and more pocket friendly and equal in durability.

If you mean the C-78 Native III or the original FRN C-41 Native, relative sizes, and thus relative "pocket friendliness" would be the same, but it depends a bit on how you measure durability. Both those Natives have one piece FRN handles and their blades and lockbar pivots are rivets. The FRN Endura has steel liners and is held together with screws. So there is no chance of a screw coming loose on either Native, but there is no way to disassemble it for cleaning.

To put things in perspective, there are folks who have carried and used a rivet construction FRN Spyderco daily for ten years or more. So personally, I would consider durability a non-issue. As with most things in life, YMMV.

If I could find a native in all steel construction I would buy it in a heartbeat. I have recently bought the SS Endura 4 and it is awsome. To be able to find a native in SS handles would be amazing. The native has the finger choil and the extra sharp blade and point. Both the SS native and endura should be held on with rivets, my SS endura has those "hidden" rivets much like that of a buck 110.

Not hard to do, as long as you like combo edge. There are about a half dozen of them on eBay right now and I'd say that's about what you'll find there at any time. Am sure some dealers also still have them in stock. The PE ones are a bit harder to come by, but do show up occasionally.

Hey deacon, do you (or anybody reading this) know how to take apart a SS handle? I can't seem to get those hidden rivets out for the life of me. I just want to see if I can do a blade swap with my SS and my other Endura 4s. I'll make a thread on this subject too, but any help would be appreciated.
