Natural cordage from various materials (photos)

Thanks Pict, never thought of the inner bark, I was only thinking of the outer bark that falls of in big sheets. I'll try to get some this weekend.

Excellent post!

Cordage making is one skill many bushcraft students neglect to practice. On a week long camping trip this past summer in the Adirondacks, I put together a few pieces of camp furniture with the help of some natural cordage. Mainly, spruce and pine root. Very quick cordage that is ridiculously pliable when wet and hard as a rock when dried.
