let me tell you all a *secret*... a deadly secret of the whole "additive" and "lifestyle" ingredient snakeoil folx...
what they are selling usually isn't magic, or special. MOST people eat so poorly in terms of quality, and how can they help it these days with corn syrup and empty carbs from over processed foods, and crap foods in general. take a look at your local market. notice all the food aisles... now, subtract the aisles that have anything that isn't fairly natural, and you KNOW to be good for you... cheetos? cookies? soda? candy? over processed stuff? MOST of the booze? MOST of the pasta? MOST of the bread. almost ALL but not all of the cereal? what's left? meat, fruits, vegetables, milk and products (not everyone is crazy for that), some soy products, and bunches of stuff...
MOST of the stuff in a supermarket, by volume, if not by weight, is, to put it simply: nutritionaly void. it's crap.
so, if you suddenly start eating your veggies (super green drinks for instance), or eat something that has any mineral/vitamin you're missing in your diet (either comletely, or just not enough)... you feel FANTASTIC. wow. go figure. people attribute MIRACLES to these things.
simpler? have a multivitamin every few days. daily? jury is out on that. have a few other supplements - your needs might vary. lots of stress? you might need more C and B and E. some people need their omega oils and what not. eat a piece of fruit now and then. have a salad. eat REAL minimally processed food at least once a week (or more) (canned stew is mostly okay for instance, spagheti-os are not).
more? get some exercise. walk. go on hikes. chop things down. stretch! warm up first.
more? sleep. regular sleep. does wonders.
MORE? mental health. read a book or five. read a book a week, at least. learn a new mental skill (sudoku), learn to knit or crochet and do something spatial, make new interconnections - keep the brain squishy, or it dries up and you go mental sooner.
live!
