Natural fire tinder in the Southwest (Texas)? Suggestions

Agglutination, you are correct. Thanks for the info. According to the Audubon Society's nature guide " Eastern Forests", the river birch range reaches to east Texas.

Looking at the map it appears that it does not get to DFW or points west but does take a slight westward swing towards the Bryan/CS area and then back to the southeast.

I was too optimistic in it being found in DFW or the upper Brazos.

Thanks again and gig 'em Aggies!
(Can't believe I said that being a life long UT fan-but,hey someone has to win from the old Southwest Conference!)

I lived there for years..why I cant remember is beyond me but Sycamore is good too. The dry bark shredded up lights up and is generally dry unless its coming a "frog drowning rain". They shed twigs/small limbs naturally too.
