Natural handle materials

Welcome to the Blade Forums, It's nice to see one of the "old Guard" cutlery companies represented.
My comments concerns the traditional pattern folders and the overwhelming use of delrin and other plastics. I really miss the natural Bone, Stag, etc.. I realize there are other manufacturers that still offer these materials, but I don't see Camillus knives producing them anymore.
Are there any plans to produce any folders with these wonderful old materials? If so, What patterns? Maybe The "Rimfire Classic" series in Stag with real brass inlay hint, hint.
Again, thanks for making time for us knife nuts.
Tim

Phil, for what it's worth, I am also defintely interested in natural handle materials (as well as carbon steel blades).

Bernie

Thanks for the comments Tim & Bernie,
I too much prefer stag to delrin! However it does more than double the cost of the knife sometimes.
We do produce limited runs occasionally using stag or jigged bone, the Classic Cartridge Series being a recent offering.
Unfortunately Bernie's desire for carbon steel blades may not be addressed as the vast majority of our customers want stainless steel.

Phil,
Thanks for the response. I'd be more than willing to pay more for the classier materials. Handle materials as well as steels. how would I find out about some of your limited production items? Is there a collectors club that camillus interacts with? Thanks again.
Tim

I agree with the gentlemen above. Zytel is very practical, but when you have 30-40 knives it seems you have already left the practical behind. For all the explanations of it, Zytel is basically "strong black plastic".
We're looking for things of beauty or at least things of interest. I'm sure we all spend more time sharpening/maintaining and looking at our "toys" then we ever spend using them. Even if we forego the stag and mother-of-pearl, a little wood would be refreshing.
If worse comes to worse, how about Zytel in some color other than black?
How about swirl patterns ?

Thanks for the chance to vent

Tim,
To my Knowledge Camillus does not currently work with any collectors clubs, although we do produce many club knives under contract.

This year we are offering a limited (1000 pcs) run of 4 knives using Carbon Steel blades & tortoise shell celluloid handles.
Get them while you can!

sharpsteel,

AG Russel has them in stock. There is only going to be 1000 made, so don't delay!
