If you use mineral oil or baby oil to preserve horn,bone or ivory does it affect the hardware(ie. nickel silver,brass,stainless,etc.Was wondering if some type of oxidation occurs?
Don't think it would but better safe than sorry!

It won't hurt anything, but I don't think it helps preserve the material, either.
A good coat of paste wax should help more.

100 percent mineral oil works fine, just put it on "lightly".

Thanks guys!I have Ren wax and somebody posted about Howards Feed and Wax,available at Home Depot and probably other hardware stores,good stuff also.Thanks again! :thumbup:

Neutral paste wax shoe polish works very well, and is available at your local grocery store.
