I use mostly natural wood for handles, the more knives I make the more I see I need to improve on.Paying closer attn to the details maybe.Proud pins seem to be my enemy right now.If the handle is fairly flat in the pin area,I don't have much trouble. If I sculpt a handle it seems to be a problem.I need some suggestions and ideas. Thanks in advance for any help.

Never sand over a pin with bare hands as the wood will always sand away faster than the pin. Always use some sort of a 'backer' or block. Even a piece of sculpted hardwood to fit odd or tight areas will work.

I use good quality jeweler's files. They remove material faster than you would expect.
