When you say Nautical knife that means to me : a knife not meant to be used in or under water - normally.... Not a dive knife.
Buck contracted with Camillus for a nautical marlinspike knife as part of it's 300 black derlin scale series. I was told but have no second testimony, that U.S. Coast Guard recruits were issued a Buck 315 Marlinspike when they went on there shakedown sailing ship cruise.
Since it's Christmas eve, here are a couple of old pictures to save time and to provide some meat for this thread. If I could find them all I would have about seven different versions to display.....a couple of those might be considered semi-versions. Camillus issued there own clone of the barehead versions. The bails are not only used to tie a cord thru, but they can be utilized to turn the flanged threaded pins used in pulleys and shackles on sailing craft....so watch for loose or damaged ones.
300Bucks
Very Rare Limited edition yellow micarta scale
Heres a picture of a knife someone gave me, I have no knowledge of it.
From George Ibberson & Co., Sheffield, a similar model of yachtsman's knife they call for some reason a "Barlow Shackler". I see the shackle, but it doesn't look like any Barlow I ever saw.
I do not collect these, but this was a gift from my Dad.It's like the German one in the OP's link, but stamped Italy
I found out the bolsters were steel after I left it in the glove box of my boat,at the marina,at the time.
Dad's gone & so are the days of having a boat docked at the marina, but the knife holds memories.
Merry Christmas All,
-Vince
