Nautical Theme Knife

This more so than usual. Sperm whale’s tooth, wood spacers are from Old Ironsides (so the Ivory Dealer said???), wrought iron guard from anchor chain and cable blade. Blade 5" and OAL 9 1/2"
 
The blade profile is looking like a fish :) . Great Knife Mr. IG. (Ok you can ignore "Mr" if you dont like :D )
 
Thats a beautiful knife I really like it. :) About how long did it take to make ?? If you dont mind me asking.
 
It is kind of hard to say. I had the billets of cable and WI made up. My best guess is 25 hours. I have to drop it off Monday because the Ivory Dealer is bring it with him to Hawaii on Wednesday. I have another tooth just like this one that I am go to keep for myself. It will be my Sunday Go To Meeting Knife. It will be all scrimshawed up with a Indian theme. :D :D

Beautiful knife, IG. Great blade profile and love that tooth handle! The wood spacers and wrought iron guard tie it all together nicely. Do I see some filework on the blade? To continue the nautical theme - the maker cusses like a sailor! :D

Nice knife, IG, but the knife pic keeps disappearing! Blade foto's always there.
 
Fatzo: I keep having that problem, have no idea :eek: what I am doing wrong. :confused:

What kind of metal is between the wood spacers? Copper, I always put a piece of copper in all the knives I make.

Cooooool Are we going to get to see it when you get it done? You sure will. :D

You do see filework. The blade is edged harden too. The hamon lines are faint in the pic. :(

You should put it under saltwater for a while, then it would look right. :p :p

Looks great IG, It's nice to see cable once in a while, doesn't seem to be many people using it anymore.
 
that be a darn good looker there IG...
I'm guessing there's no silly laws about sperm whale teeth anywhere?
