I've done some cable but have had problems getting my forge up to welding temp. I think there is not enough air flow. It takes a very long time to get to temp.
It gets to forging temps and holds them great so since I have been working mainly on forging technique till now I haven't changed it I like to forge to 90-95%. If you forge to close when the forge is to hot you burn the carbon out of the edge of the steel and it's toast, (Right Mark). I liked Marks new forge and his burner. It worked great except that was when he first got it and he hadn't put a regulator on it yet and it burned to hot for how close I like to forge. Daaaaaaaaaa, I'm in the process of building one! I'll use the new one for welding and the old one for forging. One of the first things on my agenda for the new forge is the chain saw billet. Anyway here is one of the cable blades that worked.

Wow isn't enough to describe that piece fellas...i went by IG's yesterday with Mike Spangler, i gotta say that's going to be a tough one to let go..the cable pattern is as perfect as it can get,the balance is just right,and it fit's my mitts like a glove...some one is going to be extremely happy with this knife
