Does anyone know of a custom maker who makes a navaja?
The traditional Spanish large ratcheting clasp lock folder.
I know the Crawford Perfigo is based on this design, but I'm looking for something more traditional.

Cool site! Those appear to be a step up from the navajas normally seen for sale. I would interested to hear what anyone has to say about them.

Those look nice, but I would have to be able to personally check them out if I was going to pay up to $1800.00 for one.

I am Spanish, new in the forum and accidentally of Albacete and artisan cutler and engraver. I have relationships of friendship with the best artisans in knives of Albacete and in Albacete the best cutlery in Spain is made.
The picture of the image of the forum is an old knife (XVIII centuries - XIX )
At the moment replicas of these knives are made to compete in our Regional Competition. But they are manufactured in way but simple and of smaller size that the original one, leaving for a good price.

But we are speaking of old replicas. He/she would want to know that it is what wants really, to advise him bién. At the moment they are manufactured by the teacher Spanish cutler José Foundling (family of fame in Albacete )
knives of extraordinary quality [Better SIZE=2]lo of España [/ SIZE]! and they are not old replicas.
Collection pieces in ivory, law silver and inclusive in gold. Besides other pieces of economic drop in value, but of unquestionable quality.
I have personal friendship with José Foundling and with the cutlery union.

I send him their page web. In this page the special works don't come, they are series knives; but if he/she contacts the artisan, he/she would inform him of their special knives. I am also at your service for any consultation.

I can make you a Navaja. There is an americanized version on my
web site. www.turnbullknives.com It is in the "available" section.
(However, it was sold at the Blade show)

Espero de pasar algun dia por albacete para comprar una de acero de carbono.

JD Ware makes a nice Navaja. He's an expat living in Mexico. He's a member here and has offered his knives in the makers section from time to time. Very finely crafted using traditional cover materials.

Can we resurrect a thread less than 10 years old, kids?

I certainly hope so. I started collecting custom knives just this January, and have been looking to get a navaja and khoummya from custom knife smiths in order to commemorate a special trip our entire family is making to Granada and Marrakech this year. 10 years old or not, this thread is extremely helpful.

We are not going to be friends.

It's one thing to do a search, it's another thing entirely to resurrect a thread that is over 12 years old with crappy ass photos of a horribly ugly knife.

May all of your steel turn to rust.....while I am venting my spleen, suck on this!

Seeing that collection more than justifies resurrecting this thread. Thank you for posting, brother. Perhaps someday mine will be as worthy.

Don't mind STeven he is a very knowledgable and warm guy ........some days :)

Welcome to the forum and I too like Navajas

Thanks, Joe! I realize that some things said or done may raise a feather or two from the elders, but that's all part and parcel of the learning process, which is all I'm here for. I don't mind working my way up the pecking order if it means learning a thing or two. It was truly a treat to see that collection! Your knife is beautiful too! Would you mind sharing some info about it? My mothers family hails from the Batangas province in the Philippines, which is where I was first introduced to the balisong as part of our heritage over 40 years ago, so that's the type of knife that jump-started my descent into the rabbit hole last January, lol. As the hobby can get quite costly, I just wanted to research makers for a single navaja and khoummya to represent the counties of Spain and Morocco, where a very special family trip is planned this year....

I have one that was made by JJ Martinez from Santa Cruz Spain. It's a big folder compared to my usual EDC stuff, but I like it alot.
