I'm setting up a small out doors forge and curently have two opinions. I know the prices are high but I'm in Sweden, and we'll that's just the way it is.

Option 1. A NC knifemaket that has been used for 50 hours and welded in. I need to buy this unseen for an equivalent of 450$.

Option 2. A whisper moma open ends new from a local ferier shop for 870$.

I need to make up my mind before the wife catches on to me. So if you have any input please share.

If you are doing knives, the knifemaker is the right one.

The Momma model is most suitable for blacksmithing and farrier work.

I have a Whisper Lowboy and a Whisper Knifemaker. Both are great forges. I have thousands of running hours on both and they still work like they did when new. Reline every five years or so and you are good to go.

Tip:
Get a stationary bulk propane tank, or at a minimum, a 100# portable tank. The 20# BBQ size bottles will freeze up if used for long periods.

I started off with the NC Knifemaker before I bought my Chile. It works quite well. +1 on the 100 lb tank advice.
