I bought it to for night hunts but never got around it. The idea is this laser illuminate an area as far as 3 miles away but the green laser can not be seen like a flashlight and won't scare away animals. Basically if you think laser pointer, you can only see the spot where the laser is and no beam or flash of light. You can see it at distance from your scope and hunt in the dark. I mounted it once on my handgun and found it illuminate about a pizza box size at 20 feet and can be used for home defense in the dark.
