NE Ohio Busse Boys Chop-In and Hot Dog Roast

or email me, for directions, and to be on the mailing list for advance notice of future events.

Only 2 hours, come on down!

Looks like we'll have 5 of us hacking at the trees tomorrow. And my TTKZ is back from Garth with the new, thinner grind. Ready for your chopping pleasure! Weather is looking good, if a bit warm. Still time for you to get in on this, just email me for directions.

Have fun everyone:thumbup::thumbup:

Stay hydrated and take tons of pictures:)

I'll bet it was really hot huh Guy? It's been over 100 heat index here in Missouri lately. Well atleast you made it back alive that's a good thing. ;)

Great selection of blades to try out this year:thumbup::cool:

I was very bummed I couldn't make this one  Looks like it was another fun one with some good blades to play with.
I missed throwing your new one, Guy ;)
I was with you in thoughts and action, however.
The same time you were at the clearing sweating I was trudging through sweltering southern Ohio breaking in my B11 and wishing I was up north.
Looking forward to the GTG this fall.

It's F'n hot!

wished Ohio was closer to taxachusetts :grumpy:

We don't even get a blade show with busses up here :thumbdn::mad:

Well, it’s only been two months since the event, and I finally remembered to post some pics.:o Too bad the ones that roenman posted are gone.

As we gathered in the parking area, intel440 strapped on his new B11 drop-leg sheath from steelnut. In addition to the three or four other knives he was packing.

Then we hiked back to our spot in the woods. Not only was it hot, but the power line right-of-way we hike in has not been mowed for several years, so the weeds, brambles, and assorted pricker bushes are getting to be chest high and thick. Upon arriving at our expanding clearing, we laid out the haul. You come to this event; you get to play with a lot of toys.

This was my first chance to give a real workout to the TTKZ that had been reground by Garth. The beech tree was sacrificed in the name of science, in a comparison chop-off to my CGNMFBM.

After an equal number of chops on each side, it’s looking like a dead heat.

Last summer, with the original stout profile, we all agreed that the TTKZ was not the ultimate Busse chopper, and rated the NMFBM as a clear winner. Now, the new improved version is in a tie. But keep in mind that my CGNMFBM is not stock, as I have reground a thinner convex profile behind the edge, and stripped and satined the blade.

After dropping and delimbing a couple of small trees, we added to the woodpile.

cjpgeyer is our official fire master, and he got it going so we could burn some hot dogs for lunch.

As we chowed down, roenman regaled us with his tales of finding not one, but TWO nuclear dog tags. Serious Hog Fu there.

The slog back through the weeds was made more tolerable by the fact that cold beer was waiting in the coolers. :D

Now, aren’t you sorry that you keep missing all the fun?

Here’s your chance, we’re going to do it again on Sat. Oct. 30. Come on out, bring a friend, and maybe a knife or two. Don’t worry if you haven’t got any users (roenman), there will be plenty for you to try out.

What is the green knife to the 5 O'clock of the Axe (next to the axe) in the upper left corner with the solid grip bolts?

Thanks!

Also, pictured 4th from the left in the upper left hand corner?
