Near mint dc finish under coating

Now that sure is a beauty underneath that coating. It looks to be more of a coarser sandblast finish compared to the double cut. My BIBB had a similar finish when stripped.

I think you got the one made with 420J2. I'll take it off your hands for $50.

Something very odd going on here.

This looks a job for ... a scientist. :eek::thumbup:

I think you should ship it to me, so I can put it through a sophisticated battery of carefully calibrated tests.

I should be able to get it back to you in a year or so, after the various peer-reviewed publications see print ... and we slightly modify Mr. Busse's treatment processes so something this horrifying never happens again! :eek:

Sounds like it WAS grit but not bead blasted. The rough surface would help the coating adhere. Shouldn't be any INFI dimples on the full flat grind but not having any on the ricasso area makes it seem as if the Knob Creek "flats" aren't made straight from plate INFI but ground or milled to that thickness. Cool. Oh, and I too want/NEED a CG SFNO or two. Pete

That's one fantastic looking stripped knife. Congrats.

We REALLY need more SFNOs released!

I love it and,....of course, I'll take it! Really, even after the coating damage :eek: :thumbup:

Why does it look like you have the handle dipped or coated with the paint/epoxy material?

Thank you all for the good intentions and your helpfulness :D
It's an even more attractive knife now imho:cool:

Why does it look like you have the handle dipped or coated with the paint/epoxy material?

I just put on the stripper very generously, so it could reach all (tiny) spots around the handles. And because the complete spine is coated the handles got a fair bit of this gooey stuff on them.
