Heres a custom order that fell into my house purchase timeframe and took forever to get done! Its one of my favorite knives I have made for a BF member. Its almost done, just needs a final cleanup and plish, but I wanted to share some pics while I had the chance. This is a massive and great feeling knife. Sorry for the pic size, I did not have a chance to reduce these.

Specs:
-15" OAL, 10" blade
-1/4" O1 toolsteel
-Nickel silver bolsters, sculpted
-Crazy Grey/brown flame-looking box elder burl handles
-Mosaic NS/Copper pin and thong tube, hidden pins holding handle.
-Custom sheath by me, fitted to bolsters.
-Balances about 1.5" in front of the plunge, making it nice and tip heavy -for heavy chopping.
-Curved plunge as requested
-Slight recurve to the belly of blade, where blade is 2" high
-Hand rubbed finish
-Makers mark on spine between bolsters

Forgot to add, this knife perfectly matches these pistol grips I made from the same block of wood:

Did anyone else hear that heavenly music when they opend this thread?

I know I did--I'm wondering if it just plays the one tune or if it has a vast repertoire. I'll have to wait until it arrives to know for sure. :D

Thanks ever so much, David

P.S. I'm looking at the sheath for a piggyback setup but I'm not seeing one....where does the gun go?:confused:

;)

Thanks for all the kind comments everyone! I really appreciate it.

It'd be funny to carry a 15" knife like this and a matching little .22. Maybe ill make grips for my .44 and the two would complement each other better.

I'll have this at the Hammer-in, but its going to stay in mint condition as its sold. I wouldn't want to beat all you bigger guys with such a pretty knife anyways, HAHA. Most of the guys at the hammer-in will have arms bigger than my thighs.

Heres a pic of the handle in bright sun...some cool action when you move it around. This still isnt the final polish (this is just quickly sanded and buffed), but shows the grain and colors well.

Wow!!

Now there's a knife I REALLY like. :D

Of course, it's almost a short sword. But that's good!

David, I'm always on the lookout for your stuff. I don't do a lot of polishing on my knives, but I REALLY admire your designs.

Very nice!

When that baby slips out the sheath something is getting ready to fall!! Nice work!

Top notch, Dave! You never fail to impress...

I think there should be handicaps for cutting comps... lil' guys like you and I don't stand a chance at the 2x4 cut next to the lummoxes... however, I distinctly remember you coming awfully close to winning at IG's a couple years back...

You guys are making my head swell....haha!

As for the handicap thing, although strength certainly plays a factor, I think it all comes down to edge geometry in the 2X4 cut. A nice appleseed convex edge slips between wood better than a v-grind bevel. I spent some time tonight convexing my big ugly comp cutter, so we will see how it does this time around!

Matt, you gonna be at IG's on saturday?

I wish, buddy... unfortunately I can't manage the time... 8 hours in the car, and then back is a bit rough for such a shindig! Wish I was going... it's always a blast.

Have you been doing any forging lately?
