I am in the military & think about getting one for general use before I deploy. Please make your recommendatinons. Thanks.

I only have a few, and nothing high end. That said, my Becker Necker is by far my best neck knife. Its very sharp and well built. Some people have problems with the skeleton handle because there is a "beer bottle" opener at the end that can dig into your hand. I've not had this problem, but I haven't done hard work with it. Its cheap too.

I'd also highly recommend looking at Tom Krein's knives, he's got a couple of neckers that look great.

I just received one in a trade from Ivan Campos, a maker/member on here that lives in Brazil. I don't know when you deploy, but the neck knife I received looks to be a great utility knife. I don't usually use neck knives, the only ones I've owned I've put on a belt, but I might just have to change my MO :).

Hey Guys...

I'd also have a look and see what Ranger Knives have to offer...

Pretty heavy duty stuff,, and would work well I think for your applications...

I gave up on the neck knife awhile back and went with a Mercharness instead. Now I have an 8" Ivan Campos custom fixed blade that rides comfortably under my shirt.:D The Mercharness can also work with folders which leaves tons of carry options.

Another vote for the Becker Necker. Been carrying one myself after issuing quite a few to our field personnel with really good results. Very useful, great design and amazingly ergonomic for having a skeleton handle, carries extremely well, tough, holds an edge .... what more can I say?

Another vote for Tom Krein's neck knives. I have two, and they are a couple of my favorite knives. Another good one is R. J. Martin. Anything he makes is cool and razor frikkin sharp, you can count on that.

Here's another STRONG vote for a MercHarness.......

Here's a review of a bunch of Kneck Knives that I have and had.
I like kneckers a lot. The Mercharness is more functional for any size knife.

Great thread! :)
I have been looking at neck knives for some time now, trying to decide. I want one no longer than 5 1/2 inches; less than 5 would be great. I have been leaning towards the Emerson LaGriffe, ($55 - $65) but now I am being pulled towards this Atwood Tanto Goblin ($95). It looks great, but it costs too much for me right now. :( Any other suggestions for small (under 5 1/2") neck knives?

I will have to second the Fallkniven WM1 or the Garm G1 but for shear cutting power and razor like edge I would recommend you look at the Fehrman Knives Tru Hiker. No sharp edges on the handle, a great sheath, and as sharp as you could ever hope a knife to be. Check out their web site at:

www.fehrmanknives.com

I also have a picture of it here on this forum under "Fahrman Quad" a family photo of what I have received from them.

Ciao

Peter Atwood, and Becker made great neck knives at a great price. It is also worth mentioning now is a good time to go custom or semi custom because it is more affordable, Fallkniven and Munroe desighns are good choices.
