I'd like to see some neck knife kits for some ideas. Post 'em if you got 'em.

Thanks.

Here is one I made up.

Impressive what you can hide in those ranger bands. The one neck knife I have that's still set up for neck carry is a Peter Bromley, and the knife and sheath are too nice to cover with rubber. Still, in and of itself, the knife alone is a great survival kit, and there's maybe 3 feet of latigo lace that's useable for cordage.

The knife is a Gossman UNK (Utility Neck Knife) in CPM154 with a shortened handle. The kydex sheath is encased in a length of inner tube (ranger band) which holds a large ferro rod and Vaseline cotton balls. When all else fails, I have a knife and good, solid firemaking tools. I got the idea from Hayseed, but added a Photon light (it lays flat) and a Cammenga Tritium wrist compass. Now, I have fire making tools, light and a navigational aid. If I need to check direction, I remove the knife which frees up the compass dial. The eyelets are brass, so they don't interfere with a reading. I have picked up another UNK with a full size handle in 01 steel.

This sheath is one that I make/sell and I can make them for almost any little knife. I save a bunch of space by packing the firesteel holder w/compass and light on the outside of the sheath. There's room to use a ranger band in the middle too and pack more flat objects behind the sheath.

thanks
for me a neck kit must be as light a possible and with a knife with "usable" handel.
I see my kit lack alot of "survival" items but I wanted to keep weight and profil low and flat.
One side of blade is mirror polished to be used as signal mirror

^ looks like you're using a BSA hot spark steel- how do you like it? also what's in the metal cylinder?

thanks

BSA firesteel´s handel is very confortable and quality of rod is same as light my fire ones.
The cilinder is a titanium whistel ;-)

^ ah good to know- thanks :) just thinking out loud, is it possible you could stuff a tinder tab or two in the hollow part of the whistle- not familiar w/ the construction of the ti whistle?

yes I though about that but to take out from whistel should be a difficult task.
The tinder I carry is two pieces of rubber bands.
Others tinders to add could be to use :
1.paracord case filled with waxed jute (now I´m looking for jute cords).
2.change plastic BSA handel with maya wood or magnesium.

those are definitely viable options :), they (tinder tabs) probably would be difficult to remove-perhaps a small length of ss wire- wrapped around like a split ring or such through one of the holes in the sheath that could be removed and shaped into a "J" to facilitate their removal????

just seems like the hollowed out whistle would be a natural place to stick some tinder :D

This is pretty neat. It would be just the thing for my Shango.
