Neck Knife Questions

Above are pics of my Necker. .125 aeb-l with very thin, highly contoured micarta scales. Oal is just under 6" it is perfect!

6.5" oal .... May have to shorten the blade and reduce the width some.

The blade is fine, the handle is a bit long. The butt of the knife would be great with some gentler curves. As for kydex, it does feel cheap to an extent but, the fact is it holds a knife in place when done right. When done wrong, it will scratch the hell out of a nice satin finish and rattle around like a rock in a can. Skeletonized knives are ok, but more often than not they are uncomfortable as hell to use. Which is why you usually see them rehandled with something or cordwrapped.

nice design..looks lite

She's a sweetie. Very thin and light. Handles like a full size knife and excels at slicing.

Made by a member of our forums. DCL knives, drew does an outstanding job. He is on the fixed blade knife makers forum.

Didn't think about the texture when commenting on the skeletonization..although, as you mentioned, gutted cord shouldn't add noticiable weight.

Thanks for the advice. Though I do plan on skeletonizing the handle it will still have some thin rough finished G10 scales. The picture was misleading as it was meant to show scale placement as the skeletonizing will leave a 3/16 (maybe 1/4) band of metal all the way around to form the handle. :-)

Looking forward to seeing the finished product
