Neck Knife Shootout - Featuring Becker 24

Great review/test.

As far as cutting foamboard (from post 9) - I had the opposite reaction. I had several feet of 1/4" foam board to cut. Placed on a redwood fence board for support. I tried a razor knife, and after two cuts it was just tearing. I tried my saber-ground BK16 and it was a tad too thick for clean cuts. I grabbed the 24, and it went through all the rest like butter. I hardly had to think about it.

I do have full-size scales on my 24. For my XL hands, it made a world of difference.

Thank you for a very thorough review.......Loved the pix with the three fires (I love fire) and the three whittlin' sticks especially.......

Interesting opposite result. It may have been me or the knife wasn't as sharp as I needed for this task. Or, maybe I just suck at cutting things, haha.

I really like my 24. Sometimes I consider getting rid of it for a 14 simply because I like 1095 and easier sharpening out in the field.

Great review.

I also own an izula and love it as well

TY and YW, Ethan. Pics with the fire going and knives behind it was my favorite of the bunch.

with the kabar heat treat, the D2 is not significantly more difficult to touch up in the field - especially if you habitually use a ceramic or diamond hone anyway.

FWIW, after the testing and subsequent playing around with the knives, I just stropped them all back to hair popping.

Of course my tests are a no go for edge holding, they are a good indicator of how a knife will perform bushcraft/outdoors tasks. They aren't really used enough in the testing to wear down the edge. I've found that all my decent knives will hold an edge far longer than I can test them, lol.

I'm gonna have to try that fine looking dish of yours except without the onions. I HATE ONIONS!

Excellent review, but damn that SPAM was that one "Oh Jesus" that sent me reaching for the Zofran.

lol, thanks bud. Come on now, turkey spam aint that bad. :p

Bad enough; I will admit though, that I have an affinity for canned corned beef hash. Anyway, you mentioned the BK24 had a better grip than the ESEE, but I find the grips to be identical; am I missing something?

Corned beef hash is good too.

The Becker is wider and seems to be just a tad longer. It felt fuller in my hand.
