Neck Knife to Dagler Mod~
Okay so I don't know how much of a "Mod" it is and most of you likely could have figured this out, but I thought I'd share anyway.
I love my Tops MSK, it's the perfect size for many tasks and makes a great EDC fixed blade. The thing is, I HATE anything around my neck, so I had to come up with something else. This would likely work with any Necker sheath, so try it for yourself.
I often carry mine in my pocket as an EDC or on my belt. To accomplish both of those I figured a way to tie a few knots including a Diamond knot as almost a tail on the knife, and a Monkey Fist on the sheath.
The Diamond knot is really easy after you try it a few times. I tied it almost like a lanyard but it serves two purposes. First it helps me have something to hold onto when I pull it out of the sheath. Secondly it gives my pinky something to hold onto when I'm working the blade.
The Monkey Fist also has two purposes, one is to pull the knife from the sheath when I'm pocket carrying. The second is I made the loop just big enough to fit my belt through so it dangles, which also lets me pull the knife free. I guess its kind of like a reverse dangler sheath. In this mode I can also quickly tuck the sheath behind my belt if I don't want it dangling, then pull it back out to dangling again.
Of course you could use many knots on the sheath including another Diamond Knot, just don't forget to leave room for your belt.

Easy Diamond Knot instructions (you can do it). Where he says "go around middle finger", that middle finger is your lanyard hole in your knife or your sheath.

Easy Monkey Fist instructions. You can obviously use all one color. He just ties an overhand knot for the 'core' but I actually use a Diamond knot because it's more round and makes the final product look better. When you get done trying a Monkey Fist on your own, but one of the (two) tails back through the loops before tightening it up. Be patient when tightening it up. Once its tight adjust the loop through your sheath for your belt. Snip off both tails leaving about 3/16" or so, melt it with your lighter until its smooth with the monkey fist.

Seriously try these knots with some 550 cord even if your a novice, they are very easy. Stop or rewind the video. Practice a few first. The more you do it the better they look and the faster you get. Not to metion you will be using them for other knives, or even gear. All of my Maxpedition bags zippers have Diamond Knots on them, look better and are easier to grab.
Don't roll your eyes at me...just try it!
Now you have made a Neck Knife into a Dangler and it looks good and functions better. Try it in your pocket, put it on your belt, or clip it to a caribiner on your pack and it will always be handy. Enjoy:thumbup:
