I saw the neck knife in the Emerson gallery that was photographed on top of a $100 bill.
I think the photo was by Sniper308. Is that a small size? Can you still order them from Emerson?

Flash:

The knife pictured on the $100.00 bill is the small size. I doubt that you can order them from Emerson at this time since it would be a custom order. I know he made them in three sizes but someone else can probably chime in on the possibility of ordering one. I have heard that most folks seeing these knives when he had them at the blade shows were not thrilled with the price being asked for these knives since they didn't necessarily have the "Custom" look to them.

Thanks for the reply Sniper308. After reading your post it would seem the only way to get one would be to find someone that was willing to sell theirs. What was the original price? I don't mind paying higher prices for rare knives but would be helpful to know the original price. You stated that it would be hard to order one because it would be custom. Is Emerson not making any more custom pieces? Darn just when I was starting to get really interested in Emerson knives. All my sons have Emersons,7's, commanders, specwars,la griffe, and ravens. I just recently purchased a black PUK and love it. If anyone wants to part with their's, I will definately make it worth your while.

Mike,
There are a number of custom configurations that I have seen. Probably a few I hav'nt as well.
As Sniper illuminated there are three sizes of custom SpecWar Tantos Neck knives made. I have the Medium and Large. There is also a neck knife w/ a Blade shape that resembles a CQC 8.
I personally carry these daily at times in my work and they are extrememly confortable and efficient. I have tried others but prefer their simplicitic and minamalistic design.
They are Blk Oxide and Chisel ground. Precisely ground and extremely sharp. I use them regularly and have found no better neck knife. Where I need to be Magnometer sensitive I use Ceramic, Stellite et al etc.
They are consistant w/ ALL the CQC folders and feel just like them.

The first one I bought from Ernie was about $125.00 in 94'. they have gone up in price & are indeed hard to find.
To me they are worth every penny. I have seen them as high as $350.00. They are Custom and I have no idea if they are going to be a production item. Derek is better
equiped to answer that question.

Hope that helps

FYI

Ernie has semi retired from custom knife making. He announced (I believe in June) that he will fill his current orders (which are many) and he will make some for shows and what not, but he is not aking any more orders for custom knives.

Tamishigiri: As usual your comments are right on. I got my small tanto from Ernie at the 1999 Solvang show and it's just like having a fixed blade CQC5 or 6. I have seen them advertised for over $400.

I've got four in a variety of sizes and shapes (and working on a fifth "weird one"). Hopefully John can get them photo'd at SOF. They were originally overlooked by many because they were....well, kind of ugly and businesslike (the reason I have four). They are customs, and I'm sure they would be commanding some pretty good prices these days. I have retired mine in favor of a production La Griffe for daily wear.
