Now that I've found my ultimate EDC folder (small Sebenza), I'm looking for my ultimate EDC fixed blde.
I'm looking for something with a 2 1/2" - 3" blade. Stainless is preferrd. Kit Carson's F4 is high on the list. Any others out there worth a look? Overall qualty and attention to detail are a must.

Check out the Larry Chew "Neckbone".He makes a few every once in awhile.

HERE is a set Larry made up for Me & My Wife. Grooved Black Micarta, and Carbon Fiber. 154CM is the steel. Hoping to get them back soon. The needed kydex sheaths to be made.

Larry doesn't make fixed blades to often. If you can find one its a nice little knife. He made a skeletonized handle version.

I just picked up one of these in a trade......BG 42 steel..scalpel sharp!!

Mike Snody Compadre..............blade is 3 1/4" and he has added a swedge grind on top that is not in this pic...knife holds well in a standard grip or a reverse grip..fit and finish are perfection..comes with a kydex necksheath that has a tek lok attachement for mutiple carry options 7' OAL sells for around 160.00 have fun in your search..........................

how about thr Camillus Cuda Mini Talon. 2.25" blade, Talonite (which kicks holy ass), a great sheath with provisions for a mini tek lock. this knife is simply fantastic.

I've got a CRKT neck peck,Two Blackie Collins designed models,Two Newt Livesays WOO's and an Emerson La Griffe on the way now.My favorite is still the WOO.I'm planning on the Camilus arclite(spell?) next. These knives carry easily and are really inexpensive.Lotsa fun for the buck.tom.:D

Try Rob Simonich's Pikuni in Talonite. It's pretty much the ultimate neck knife. Nice comfy, ergonomic handle with integral guards, and rust proof blade. With it being Talonite, you don't have to worry about it staining underneath your shirt when you perspire. I have worn mine through the sweltering days of summer even while working outdoors, and it shows very little wear.

Or even the REKAT Pikuni in D2E. I perspire a bunch and it hasn't affected my knife.

Same size as the small Seb, but thinner (handle), and with better ergos. Not to mention recurve, and your choice of steel.

Hey Dex,
I have the REKAT Pikuni. Is Rob's Talonite ground to a thinner edge? The Pikuni is very close.

Owen,
Do you think tere is a real advantage to the recurve? I haven't used one enough to form an opinion.

I'm still leaning towards the Carson, but keep the suggestions coming.

Ditto the comments on Rob Simonich's Pikiuni. You may also want to consider his Talonite Cetan. Very nice, very ergonomic, very comforatable EDC.

I would also suggest you look at Bob Dozier's knives. He has a couple of smaller, very easily carried models, and his workmanship with D2 steel is beyond belief.

Thanks, gailt. That one's on me 24/7 except the shower.

I think it really depends on what you're using the knife for. For light work, maybe not a big one, but the bigger the job, the bigger difference the recurve makes, in my experience. I don't know how big a job most people are going to use their neck knife for, though. I cut all kinds of things right after I got it, just to see how it would do, and what I could expect out of it, but most of the time, it opens packages and mail, and other everyday stuff, while a larger knife handles the tougher jobs.
I can't put a percentage on it, or anything, but the ArcLite outcuts my small Sebenza on stuff like heavy hose, and thick cardboard.
Personally I'm a big fan of recurves. The small Seb is the only one of my four carry folders that doesn't have one.

Thanks for the responses everyone. Money is a little tight rght now, so I have time to look and think things over. I'm still leaning towards the Carson F4.
