RAT Izula, one of the best small fixed blades out and 100% USA made!

+1 on the IZULA

I don't own one yet but will be the next knife i buy, probably gonna wrap paracord or camowrap on the handle.

I have the Becker Necker and the Izula and you could not go wrong with either one. They are both fantastic knives.

Take a look at Tom Krein's "dogfish." There's a few up at:

I carried one for a year...light, sharp and pretty good looking too!

Also has a bottle opener on the end.

My choice was a BM 210TK Tactical Activator. The knife itself is 5.5 inches long.

I have the Rat izula. I wear it as a neck knife around the house but outside of the house. Wear it as a belt knife. Plus you can't beat the warranty that the izula has behind it.

The Emerson Lagriffe is the PERFECT back up for self defense. PERIOD. I've tried them all, multiple times. The izula is probably leading the pack as far as small utility blades right now.

Personally, I think the best neck knives (Or small knives, for that matter) are:

1. HAK
2. Emerson La Griffe
3. Spyderco Swick

HAK's sales/customer svc seems to be getting worse & worse, so the La Griffe & Swick are probably the 2 best choices.

For a more traditional style FB, I'd say the RAT Izula's probably the best bang for the $. However, I do really like the Spartan Blades Enyo I just got & Michael Morris's file FBs are an excellent value.

I believe all of the above choices are made in the U.S.

Can I ask a serious question without starting a fight? I'm really curious.

Other than self-defense purposes what are the reasons for choosing to wear a knife around your neck rather than on your belt?

Most of them seem to have small blades to them like a small folder, so obviously they aren't for chopping firewood. Why do you choose to have something hanging off your neck, swinging in the breeze when you bend over? Do you keep them outside your shirts when walking around or do you have to dig them out to use them?

I'm not dissing them. I just don't understand them, except for a self-defense purpose. Please tell me how you use them. Thanks.

I use mine primarily in the summer. I often wear those light nylon pants with no belt. A pocket knife drags them down a bit (those pants ARE light) so the neck knife is just more comfortable. Sometimes while fishing and also while walking for exercise or jogging. A few times I wore them around a lake or pool - which is why I liked the Krein 'dogfish' because of the bottle opener. Sometimes I carry one just as a nice change now-and-then...sort of fun. Inside or outside the shirt depends on the situation. Actually unless you're leaning over they tend to stay pretty flat.
