Neck Knife?

The Black Hawk looks like a POS and the Besh-Wedge looks like it's likely to get you thrown in jail most places. What are you wanting to use it for? If you want to use it for everyday cutting chores, then I would suggest going with something along the lines of the Boker Gnome. It's small but a really nice cutter. If you could put a little more cash together than what you're looking at spending on the Black Hawk or the Besh-Wedge, then get an Izula II. They're really, REALLY nice knives. You get lots of bang for the buck. Just my 2 cents.

By the way, welcome to BF.

Neither of those would less than visible. Think a little smaller. CRKT Folts Minimalist is a great knife. 3 blade styles to choose from. If you want the real thing, youcan order the Alan Folts Minimalist. For the money, the CRKT versiomn is more than good enough imho.

No and no. Get an Izula:

They come in several flavors:

You can cord wrap it, or get scales for it, and the stock sheath is pretty decent.

BTW, welcome to BF!

Get caught with either of those in most places and you'll be lucky to avoid arrest.

Since this is your first post here, it would also help to tell us where you're from. If you're in the US, both state and city would be helpful. That way we can know what to recommend based on what is and isn't legal in your area.

+1 on the CRKT Folts Minimalist. I have the warncliffe and it disappears under a t-shirt.

I hear great things about the Becker Necker. I've got a Bark River Bravo Necker and Have been impressed but wish it was a little more substantial.

Becker BK-11 or BK-14 or the ESEE Izula - that's what I'd recommend. Great knives all.

Here's a gratuitous pic of my BK-11 (posing with one of his bigger brothers).

Kneck knife. Everyday. Under my shirt, but on top of my T-shirt. I don't even know it's there, and neither does anyone else.

I'm looking for a good neck knife--not too big and visible
Personally, I would not pick either of the two knives you indicated. Neither is very well suited to every-day tasks, and double edge knives like these can get you in a lot of trouble in some areas.

If you want a good quality, small kneck knife, there are some other options to look at:

Böker Fred Perrin Shark
Böker Gnome
Buck Hartsook Ultralight
Ka-Bar TDI LDK

All the above have blades in the 1½ - 2 inch range and 1-2 finger handles. If you want something a bit more substantial with a larger grip, you could consider:

Bark River Bravo Necker
Böker Fred Perrin Neck Bowie
ESEE Izula
Ka-Bar Becker Necker

These knives all have a somewhat more substantial blade in the 2½ - 3 inch range with 3 finger handles. I own or have handled all these knives and think they are all worthwhile choices.

I'm only a couple hours from them and I was gonna hit their store up anyway here pretty soon so I'll see what i can find out lol.

Guys, thanks for all the posts and recommendations. It is now going to take me a while to decide. :-)

Thanks for the welcoming too, but honestly I have an account here but haven't posted in a year or more (personal issues) and my account seems to have disappeared. So I HAVE been around before...and just FYI don't be too hard on my, y'all, we went through this when I joined up last time--sometimes I'm just easy to please with my knives! :-)

Thanks again!

P.S. Am looking for knife, truth be told, that I'm likely going to be sleeping with or at least wearing around at night. I sleep with next to nothing on in the heat, so something around my neck is preferable. Largely self-defense, but some practical considerations are more than welcome. Possibly will be used in "public" if I like it enough and it isn't too visible, but that's just a bonus.

Be careful wearing something around your neck while sleeping. If you're that concerned there have been various threads of people keeping knives near or attached to their beds. If you do decide to wear a neck knife ensure your cord is the standard 'breakable' type. Don't make your own 550 cord necklace, just asking to choke yourself.

I have Benchmade and CRKT neck knives, but neither get out of their boxes since I've picked up an ESEE Izula. That Izula is a great necker - perfect size and great performance.

that does it, after seeing the benchmade I'm making my own necker..

been meaning to for a while, love the squared up sheath easier to add a minimal psk to it..

it'll be a while but I'm gonna do it I tell ya:D

ETA: Just looked up that benchmade... YIKES, they're smoking crack, are the handles gold lined or what.??

Emerson La Griffe or HAK (Hideaway Knife) if you can find them (sorry, no time for pics at the moment). I had kydex belt sheaths made for mine so I can choose a carry option. I never leave home without one of them.
