Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has used these neck sheaths before (looking for a way to clear out my pockets). I’m interested in the Chive one specifically but if you have any experience with the Leek one I’d be glad to hear about it. Thanks.

My buddy has one for his Chives. Has had it over 1 yr I guess.
It is made out of Kydex. He wears it everytime we go somewhere.
I can't get him on the phone, but if it wasn't any good I know he
wouldn't wear it.

It's a shame that they don't make 'em to fit my ZT 0200.:D.:D.

Just another way for you to hurt yourself Dann, just quit thinkin !!! The price on those neck sheaths is sure reasonable, be worth pickin up a couple just to try. Us old guys can't neck carry, our backs you know. :D:D

Sooooo Dave, how DID your back hold up whilst carrying 154 Kershaws out the door at one time? At least you didn't carry them around your neck!

Dann, do you really need the knife bling thing? I remember when big clocks were the rage...now it's big knives!

Yeah, not a bad price. Guess I'll get one; I'll let you old guys know how it works out:D

I wish I had a ZT 200 so I could complain about how they don't have a neck sheath for it:rolleyes:
Oh well, thanks guys!

Yes, I really would like to have a neck sheath for that monster of a folder as it would make drawing it alittle quicker than in the sheath that I have it in now (one of my Uncle Mike's nylon pistol mag sheaths). I'm a pretty good-sized guy, so I don't see a problem with carrying a ZT 0200 folder hanging from my neck.

...And speaking of big clocks...I have a Citizen 300m Ecozilla (stainless bracelet version) on the way from a trade, that should be on my wrist either tomorrow or Thursday.

Big folder, big watch, big...:D.:D.

Hey,hey,hey....there's no call for that kind of talk. :grumpy:
Old people have feelings too!! ;) :D
That is a cool looking sheath.

Don't worry there Dann,.....i'm working on a simple breakaway neck carry device that will work with any folder with a lanyard hole.........

Not worrying about protecting a patent,.....as i don't expect anyone will get rich with this, because anyone of modest mechanical ability can rig one up themselves.

The idea is this:

Use any suitable weight cord to hold the weight of the knife to carry safely,.....at least 25-35 lb weight test. I have a round black soft nylon cord i've been using for an eyeloupe neckcarry, so i'll probably use this.

Attach a small piece of around 15 to 20 pound monofilament fishing line to the knife laynard hole,.....and leave a few inches extra to work with. You're going to want to feed the extra length of the fishing line THRU the knot you make when you connected the heavier main carry cord to form a "necklace".

If using a black round cord or something similiar,.....rig it to the length you wish the knife to lay at,......considering the knife closed length itself. I'm going to make mine so that the knife ends up near my belt waistband, as i wear polo shirts mostly with no buttons. I want to be able to quickly lift up my shirt to get at the knife if i need it!

Feed the piece of monofiliment fishing line thru the knot in the main cord (you may need to use a needle to make a channel to get it in),......but you want it as tight as you can,..... so don't go crazy with the hole.

After you get the mono thru,.....pull it up as tight as you can and make a few knots in the end of the monofiliment. Cut the excess mono off,.....leaving a few millimeters of mono left.......followed by a quick touch of a lighter or match to melt a "ball" over the knot you just made in the mono. This should keep the mono from unraveling in use.

And you now should be ably to wear your neck knife safely under your shirt, available to you with just a strong tug to pull the balled mono thru the main cord.

Being a jeweler i may make a more hi-tec version for myself, using gold tubing or wire, and attach it to a gold chain.

But this simple cord rig should safely hold the modest weight of even the mighty ZT 0200!

BTW,.....you'll have to re-attach a new pull cord every time you "yank it".:D

Future projects will include a cord that has a section that opens up to remove the balled mono section attached to the knife itself.

It was a compliment, with age comes wisdom, right?:D

That’s an interesting idea you have there Joe, let us know how it works out.

So far it's all in my head,.....but give me a few days and i'll get a chance to work up a more advanced version in a pendant style on a gold chain that will be a little easier to attach/detach the knife.

If i'm going to show one off,......it'll be a deluxe version! :)

pics Joe. we need pics of this creation (step by step)

i was using a old dog tag chain threaded though the laynard hole to carry mine around the house.:)

I got my wife one to go with her Chives. She likes it ok, but its pretty tight and can be difficult to remove the Chive. Also it only works with the frame lock chives. Not sure if all of them are like that or not, something to check on I suppose.

Personally I have found Duct tape to be adequate, simply tape the knife across your chest. fold a corner. When ready to deploy, grit your teeth and rip the tape aside. It helps if you dont scream like a little girl when you do this, it tends to draw attention to you and your tacticaly deployed knife.

Sounds like knife deployement would be ,....ummm,.... a hairgoing experience!
