i know many of you are at the BLADE show this weekend, but i just couldn't wait to post this thread. last week i came across a thread (from dexter ewing) regarding a River City Neck Sheath for the Military. Naturally, i felt i could not live without this, and promptly contacted Mike Sastre @ River City. He took the time on the phone to explain exactly how the sheathes were made and what problems i could run into, with the Military in particular, regarding fit (not on the one i recieved). i also inquired about a sheath for my Starmate, to which Mike replied that he had not yet seen one, but would be willing to make a sheath for me if i sent him my C55. with a tear in my eye (i LOVE my Starmate) i packed it up along w/ a check for Mike & sent it to him last thursday (6/3). Mike called me in the afternoon on friday (6/4) to tell me that the sheathes were done & to ask if he could keep my C55 a little longer so he could make more sheathes. I obliged & eagerly awaited its return. my package arrived on friday, about 30 min. before copfish stopped by (fish, i wish you could have stayed a longer, maybe next time). the sheathes are absolutely FLAWLESS!! they are both made of concealex (Mike said he's had better results w/ this than Kydex). the mold on them is so well made that you cannot shake or jar the knife free by accident (i even threw my Military across the room, just to try!), yet each knife is removed easily by grasping the sheath & the thumb hole & pulling donward. regarding the C55's sheath, its set up the same way as the C36's sheath, with the thumb hole to the right & tip up in the sheath. you need merely to grasp the sheath w/ the left hand (for us right handed persons), grasp the thumb hole w/ the right hand & pull downward. a small flick of the wrist w/ the right hand easily opens the knife. as you can tell, i'm really impressed. thanks again to Mike Sastre @ River City Sheathes for the fantastic work & great turn around time (you've got a customer & friend for life). if you want more info on the sheathes, you can email Mike: videosas@aol.com. if any of you are considering an alternate way to carry you knives, be sure to give this a try.

Charlie's right! The fit and finish are perfect on those sheaths. How much and what is the availability? Hey Charlie, are you guys still keeping the www.fe3stone.com address? How would a customer get ahold of you?

Yup, Mike is all that And a bag of chips!

He made me a concealex sheath for my moran as well as a couple of neck sheaths. His are different than the Edge Works Co., in that they come with a multi-position belt loop to secure the sheath to you for IWB carry, but you can also use it as a neck knife or slip sheath as well. I like having all these different sheaths and carry options. You won't go wrong with River City stuff.

fish, as far as i know, Mike still has some sheathes he made from my C55 left, so if you want one, you'd better hurry. i believe the price is going to be the same as the sheath for the Military: $29.95-althought you'd better speak to Mike to confirm this. as far as our website, we will be keeping the www.fe3stone.com address-it's just under construction now so we can update not only the pics/stats for the knives, but the shopping cart software as well. it should be ready by the second week in july.

I agree about the high quality of Mike's sheaths. I met him at the Show and he is a great guy. The BF Native sheath is flawless.

Later,
Chris

Ask Mike if he makes a neck sheath for his Bill Bagwell :-)
