To All,
I really don't know exactly what to say. I haven't slept for 36 hours. The round trip was over 900 miles. Our official visiting time was chopped down to about 3 hours due to the good old FUF. Still, I don't know when I've had a more enjoyable time. I learned so much, saw MANY awesome knives, and met some great people. The guy that came with me is still in shock. He's worried that you all thought he was a bit defective because he just stood there with his jaw dragging the ground. All he kept saying on the way home is, "You know how many knives we can make with that chunk of cable!" Thank you all, your generosity was overwhelming. Can't wait to do it again :D :D :D

IG,
You're definately the host with the most. We show up at 0:dark30 and you have food, drink, dogs, and knives waiting. It doesn't get any better than that!

Tom: You and Cory have a open invite to come on down anytime. Don't forget when you get that Sear's belt sander that I'll do up the platen for Ya.
I'll be posting pic's later today of the Hammer-In.
PS Jaguar said HI. :D

yeah it was an awesome hammer-in.... a big thanks to IG for hosting it. it was a pretty good turn out. and the cutting competition should definately be on our agenda from here on. thanks also to all the members that came to support us, and the newly joining members. now you all have more cable than you know what to do with!

Marcel: A few people were asking for Ya. My computer is messed up, I can't open my pictures. :grumpy:

IG,
It was really great meeting the hound. Every time I get to see my old girl, I'm sure it's for the final time. Seeing a young one starting out was really good for my head. As for the invite, you can bet on it. As we were trying to figure out future shop plans on the way home, we kept coming up with more questions. Cory probably won't be worth a damn at work this week :D I still can't believe that I got dragged out of the place just as the food was coming out  I did escape the dreaded HTing relish though

Wow is all I can say! The rope cutting, can slicing and 2x4 chopping was the hit of the Hammer-in, we all did pretty good... :D The FOOD was worth the price of admission...... :D :D Got to visit with some old friends and made some new ones.....Great bunch of People!!!!!!! I also want to thank Indian George for letting us party at his place....he is a gracious host, and friend...thank you!

Dude: The Marine Corp. didn't teach you that?????? Even Cory tried it. Not to many people missed it even the Old Dude Mudd had some.

What a day, it was most excellent, the whole event. No rain, great people, fantastic demos, rope cutting competition, and we can’t forget IG’s and his grasshoppers cooking…..um, um. Did I mention beverage? Their was plenty of that also (you know what I’m talking about….how, how how [ZZ Top]).

Chisel gave a demo on forming Kydex for a taco (clam) wrap type sheath.
Jim Siska was demonstrating his superlative grinding talents.
The blade that I saw Paul Carlson hammer out seemed almost ready for heat treat and finish grinding right from the anvil, WOW! The demonstrators, gladly answered questions asked by onlookers about techniques used. I was kind of bummed out that I couldn’t see all the demos that were going on, namely, I missed the demonstration on cord wrapping handles, demonstrated by Shawn

The knives used for the cutting competition were all scary sharp.

The canister billet that Happy Cat made was awesome. I can’t wait to see what he makes out of it!

The worst part about the whole day was when I was ready to leave. When I had arrived, I was very excited about all the great knife makers that were there, so not thinking, I intentionally stalled my 79 Low Rider, and left it in gear so it wouldn’t roll into IG’s new pickup, DUH, I forgot to turn the key off so my battery was totally dead when 12 hours later I went to start it up. NOBODY had jumper cables, it took IG about 45 minutes to find his battery charger. Fortunately, the cycle has a kick-start on it, so I didn’t have to wait for the battery to charge enough to use the electric start.

I really thank IG for letting the hammerin/party be held at his place, and for putting up with me. :D :D

They didn't have to, there wasn't any in the C-rats. I got victimized a few years ago by some stuff that must have had some plutonium in it. I have been very careful since then. We are definately going to have to talk about a forge!

I'm sure a good time was had by all, it sure sounds like it was a great time. I apologize to everyone for not being there. It's been a rough weekend for me but, things seem to be getting better. I just got back and I look forward to hearing more and seeing the pix.

Dang, J. I was looking fwd to meeting you at the hammer-in, but like you couldn't make it. This is the second NECKA Hammer-In I have missed and this crap is getting old. I think I'm going to divorce my wife, quit my job, and move in with IG just so I won't miss another one!

Whattaya say, IG? :D :D :D

My thanks to IG and all those who helped and attended for a great time. I had a ball chopping and slicing things. The happycat cannister came out great! I will post pics after IG mails me my camera back which I stupidly left there..... It was great hanging out and talking with folks, putting faces to names, and meeting new and old friends. Had a ball. Well worth the drive...
