This is a new design for me, a Carter pattern necker in thin stock 1095 for a very lightweight light use utility neck knife that is light enough to not be a pain in the neck!!

this is also a new process for me for taking pics with the detail card, so let me know what you think!

I love this design, looks like a very useful utility knife. What would be the hardness on this little guy?
 
Nice, what is the blade thickness? Tapered toward the front? Think I got it, just watched the video again, 1/16.

Blade thickness is 1/16" (the last measurement on the grind line is the spine thickness). He has a few in 3/32's too.

As for hardness, I forget exactly what he hardens to, but it's up there, above 60. I have one of his other necker patterns and it holds a really nice edge at that hardness and is easy to sharpen.
 
Cool, watching destruction test now. May contact him to see if he has the other style neck knife with aluminum guard, that would be a cool small edc, almost a bird and trout , just so handy.
 
Bogdan, I don't have a Rockwell tester, but the one that I sent off to get tested came back at 61-62. when heat treating, I am looking for the highest working hardness that I can get. I do this by hardening and then tempering and then testing a blade with the brass rod test to the point where the edge just quits chipping, then testing again with the blade cold {right out of the freezer}. since most all of my knives are edge quenched, this lets me run the hardened portion at the hardness that will give me the best edge stability that I can get, and is based on actual shop testing of that steel with that design and not just by going off numbers in a book.

cbach8tw, there are a couple of the other pattern with the guard on my website along with more of the carter pattern on the "available neckers" page caltoncutlery.com

the three numbers on the picture where it says grind are the thickness at the shoulder of the edge, .011", 1/4" back from the edge, .026", and at the spine, .061" and there is some distal taper.
