necker on its way!!

got mine today, but just barely. the envelope the box was in was totally ripped open on one end, all i had to do was tilt it and the box slid out!looks like i'm gonna love this thing.already the steel beats the crap out of a crkt stiff kiss.i went out in the sticks and cut some nice aged bodark yesterday to make scales with.man that stuff is hard...

the finish is already gone in a few places on mine . i ve started using it regulary to split kindling and lots of small stuff , it seems it was made to split wood.

ok, got the necker, heres my thoughts so far...when i got it out of the mailbox, the padded envelope was torn enough that i tilted it up and the box fell into my hand.how it made it to me is a mystery.the edge of the blade was well covered with grease to prevent rust, which was a touch of class.the blade is coated in a black protective coating, that looks and feels kinda matte, not slick like the srk coating.the grip is short enough that three fingers are all that will fit..but in use, this has presented no problem at all.this is one, if not the sharpest blade out of the box i've ever had!the grind is not really the same on each side, but i really don't care as long as it cuts,as my handhoned knives ain't perfect, and they cut just fine.at first glance, that wide stubby blade doesn't look all that useable, but in practice it is very controllable,i've been cutting notches and trigger sticks and such, and dang if it don't feel just fine.cut up an onion, and it's slim enogh to do that easily, while still having enough backbone to baton with, and to lay thumb or forefinger on.this ain't a "chopper" by any means, but i found that two inches of cord with a ball on the end makes it much better for chopping small limbs by holding the ball with the last two fingers giving a good pivot point and also a secure grip.the "wire breaker" and bottle opener i could do without, but hey, it don't hurt anything.the sheath was VERY tight the first time i used it, but a few seconds with a hairdryer blowing into it, and putting the knife in while it cooled has made it perfect.I can find no cons, or if there are some i'm overlooking them cause i really like this knife!it makes my crkt stiff kiss look like a cracker-jack prize.the choil is a sore point with many, and that's the first thing i noticed was on gripping it dug into my finger noticeably...but in real usage,I noticed it not one bit.and carbon steel to boot!this is what the kiss should have been, good carbon steel instead of aus stainless that dulls from contact with the sheath...i like it...

i like some of the designs from crkt but hate the quality of most of them. any company that sells out to wal-mart........

Well, just got my very own Necker 2 days ago! Love this little thing! It was smaller than I anticipated, but very sturdy. I cord-wrapped the handle and this has improved the grip nicely. I based the wrap on a picture posted in this forum, which turned out very nicely. I can't wait to get out and test it! I'm going to try posting pics, something I have not done yet.I'll keep y'all posted.
