need 2x24 belts

hi yall
I have a belt sander from northern tool. They no longer sell it (at least as far I have found) but it takes 2 x 24" belts. I have yet to find these belts from anything except special order websites, and those only in 80 grit. I have, however, found plenty of 4 X 24" sanding belts. Would it work to simply turn one of these in-side-out, mark it, and slice it straight down the middle, giving myself
2-2 X 24" belts? and if that really just wouldn't work, does anyone know where I can get the right size belts, in all grits? thnx

Just cut a line in the middle through the splice tape and pull them apart. They'll split no problem.
 
ok, thanks. also, kinda changing the topic, but can a 5" wheel make a hollow grind? I've used a 8" at a friends shop, but never tried it on anything smaller
