need 3 inch EDC

The Stretch and the GB are just a little( .25 to .3xx) over 3.0. I wouldn't worry about a fraction of an inch.
As long as you don't use the knife very much I don't think anyone at school is going to have a reason to measure the blade of you knife...........:D

Get a Caly 3. Smoothest knife I own. Delica is good, as well as the Leek, Skyline (just a tad over, but shouldn't freak anyone out), Flash 1, Cryo, Ambitious/Persistence, Meerkat... The list goes on

Delica, Sage series, or Caly 3. All great knives, and all 3" or less (both cutting edge and overall blade length).

I would strongly advise Native5. I used to carry bigger blades like C83 Persian and Caly3.5 for years. After I started to carry Native5 I realised that the knife can handle any task I need. The knife has ergos as good as C83, which in my book are fantastic.
hopefully your moonglow will be shipped today, as well as mine :)

Small Seb 21  (you never gave a price range)

I agree wih my fellow infantryman. CRK Small Sebenza is the ticket. Not cheap, but the sturdiest 3" folder I've ever worked with. I love mine so much, I just ordered a second (insingo blade this time) and have stopped looking at other brands for folders. Twice the price as my Benchmade, but IMHO, 10 times the knife (which is probably unfair to the CRK).

A couple people said I could not have a knife so I want it to be at least be legal size. I use a box cutter razor knife with no question but the Manix 2 brought on comments.

Some of the best in that range are:
*Caly 3 - Carbon fiber and ZDP-189 steel - Great little knife, I have the Damascus/CF one and it's awesome. OR you can go Super Blue and grey G-10. I just have a sweet spot for CF.
*Sage - The Sage 1 has a great gentlemanly look with the CF but can handle any every day task needed. The Sage 2 is also very nice and is the Spyderco Small Sebenza pretty much, while being extremely different. The Sage 3 has blue handles so it just looks friendly and is extremely smooth with a great lock. The Sage 4 looks nice with the wood and titanium and you can't go wrong with a good back lock.
*Air - This is just an excellent little knife and cuts like a big knife. The Wharncliffe blade makes any task a simple one and it has that great M4 steel.
*Techno - A beefy little knife with a great feel and great materials. It also doesn't look menacing. CTS-XHP is a great steel and would do well. This little guy can handle anything at all.

For a cheaper option - Maybe look at the Spyderco Squeak. It's small, non locking, good steel, and can hold up well to EDC.

Where i live there is no length law, so i carry almost anything and it changes day-to-day. I do frequently visit (at least once a week) a few local cities that DO have length limits of 3". For this i carry a Sage 1. There are many Spydies that could fit the bill. First choose what lock style you prefer and then decide on handle shape. This will zero you in pretty good on what to buy.

ukpk :)

great knife and pretty inoffensive.

If you just want something to use while you're at work, pick up a Delica. Great work knife.

I love my Native in S30v. Cheap and great knife. I picked mine up on the exchange for $35. Best knife for the money I ever bought.

Sage series feel bigger than most 3" blades,

That's because they are bigger than most 3" blades. The Sage models are very nice but huge, which makes them perfect for anyone who wants a big little 3" knife. The Caly 3 and Native are other nice Spyderco options at this size, but my first thought would be the Sage models (whatever you prefer, handle-wise, there should be one there that speaks to you).

I just measured my Manix 2 lightweight and the cutting edge is only 3", I'm not sure if this was mentioned but this would be a contender?

I'd go for the Native FRN if you want something on the lighter side. If weight doesn't bother you go for the N5; it's solid and does a good job on cutting even the tougher stuff.

No, it is blade length, not cutting edge. Blade length goes from tip to handle when opened.
